Last week at our Pack meeting, our Cubs spread out through a local neighborhood to distribute bags for Scouting for Food—a nationwide service project where Scouts collect non-perishable food to support those in need in their own communities.

Today, our Scouts returned to collect the donated items, and they had a blast! They loved going door-to-door, working together, and knowing that what they gathered will help families right here in our area. All the food collected will go to Micah’s Caring Initiative, and we are so proud of our entire Pack for pitching in— even though not every den made it into the picture, everyone played a part!

If you or someone you know is experiencing food insecurity, please send us a message. We will help in any way we can.

There is also a Mini Pantry located at
St. Michael Lutheran Church

and it is available for anyone in need.

🐻 Bear Den Adventure! 🐟

Our Bear Scouts had an awesome opportunity today — they got to talk with Dr. Henley from Virginia Tech’s Fish & Wildlife Conservation Department!

He shared his knowledge about fishing, conservation, and how we can take care of our waterways, and the Bears asked some fantastic questions. 🎣

A huge thank-you to Dr. Henley for spending time with our scouts and inspiring their curiosity about the outdoors!

🎉 Cub Scout Pack 158 had a great Pack Meeting tonight! 🎉

Our Cubs were recognized for all their hard work earning awards and achievements! 🏅

And the highlight of the night? Every Cub who sold over $600 of popcorn got to pie the Cubmaster and Assistant Cubmaster in the face! 🥧😂

After all that fun, our Cubs got right back to work — heading out to hang bags around the neighborhood for Scouting for Food. 🛍️

Scouting for Food is an annual food drive run by Scouting America to help fight hunger in local communities. Scouts distribute door hangers and collect non-perishable food donations for local food banks and pantries. The program began in 1981 as a Christopher DuBois Eagle Scout project and became a national Scouting America initiative in 1988.

Way to go, Cub Scout Pack 158! 💛💙

Cub Scouts is an adventure-filled program for boys and girls in Kindergarten through 5th grade. Each age group has its own “den,” where Scouts learn new skills, explore the outdoors, and build character through fun, hands-on activities:

🐯 Tigers — 1st Grade (age 6–7)
🐻 Bears — 2nd Grade (age 7–8)
🐺 Wolves — 3rd Grade (age 8–9)

Happy October Scouting Families!

This is going to be a great week in Scouting! Tonight at 6:45 we meet for our monthly Pack Meeting. We'll start outside but will migrate inside once it gets dark. This week we'll be talking about being ready for adventure, looking forward to our big event this weekend, the Blue Ridge Mountains Council Fall Trout-O-Ree. PLEASE FEEL FREE TO BRING A TENT TOMORROW TO PRACTICE SETUP AND TEARDOWN as that is our mid-meeting activity this week. If you don't have a tent you can bring, there will be extras.

Other announcements:

Please remember to have the cubs where their uniform to scout events. For our whole pack meetings, it is most ideal if the scout wears their class A uniform (the button-up one). Other scouting or pack t-shirts are fine for den meetings and some other outings. The most recognizable part of the uniform is the neckerchief, which makes one recognizable as a scout even when wearing a t-shirt. Neckerchiefs also help the dens feel more "knit-together" as they all get to wear their same neckerchiefs together. Please help you cubs wear these whenever possible :)
