A few Blacksburg DECA members took a tour of State Farm Arena, home of the Atlanta Hawks, on Tuesday. The tour was led by JT Louviere, VP of Strategic Intelligence and coordinated by one of Ms Catley’s former students Juli Nichols, Senior Director of Data Analytics.

We learned all about the business decisions the organization makes daily to keep the arena running - including food and beverage, premium seating options, sponsorships, and concert selection (we want Olivia Dean!).

We’ve been busy! It is Competition Day 2 in Atlanta and in addition to our preliminary activities and prep academies, we’ve already been wowed by the size of Mercedes Benz Stadium (conference kick off), visited the Hapeville Dwarf House (location of the original Chick-fil-A), and “Rocked the Block” on Marietta Street with 4000 of our closest DECA friends.

Preliminary awards are first thing tomorrow morning. We’ll keep you posted!

Blacksburg DECA has arrived in Atlanta for ICDC 2026! The drive down was smooth, we checked in to our hotel, played a little pre-dinner pickleball on the hotel courts, and grabbed a quick dinner at The Varsity. Tomorrow we will explore the city and celebrate with 26,000 other students at the opening session!
