The latest film in the Underexposed series highlights why Blacksburg has become one of Virginia's premier mountain biking destinations!

Through land acquisition, trail investments, and partnerships with Poverty Creek Trails Coalition and Town of Blacksburg Government, years of collaboration have expanded public access to trails and protected landscapes in Blacksburg, helping make the New River Valley an even more amazing outdoor destination.

The suggested donation is $15+ per person, but we absolutely encourage giving more if you’re able. This is a big event with a full afternoon of incredible live music featuring Holy Roller, The Floorboards & William Seymour!!!

If you haven't checked it out yet, the newly opened Meadowbrook Greenway provides easy access to Stonecutter's Hollow in Brush Mountain Park from the Heritage Park parking lot on Meadowbrook and much more!

On Thursday, May 14, the Town of Blacksburg and Blacksburg Parks and Recreation celebrated the completion of another important connection in its trail system: the Meadowbrook Greenway.
This new half-mile trail segment links Heritage Park (169 acres) and the Huckleberry Trail to the Brush Mountain trail system (600 acres) and to the Poverty Creek trail system in the George Washington and Jefferson National Forests (more than 5,000 acres).

Meadowbrook Greenway includes:
330 feet of boardwalk
1,600 linear feet of micropiles
115 tons of asphalt
Multiple bioretention swales, designed to promote groundwater recharge, reduce erosion, and remove sediment and contaminants that could impact the Toms Creek water source

The Meadowbrook Greenway provides access to more than 55 miles of recreational trails. Users of all types can now more easily enjoy Blacksburg’s outdoor recreation opportunities.

Funding for the project design was provided through a grant from the Virginia Outdoors Foundation, while construction was funded through the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds.

What can you expect at Roots Fest ? 🎶🌿 An afternoon of live music, local flavor, good company, and community support at Rising Silo Brewery!!

We’ll have performances by Holy Roller (7-9PM), The Floorboards (5-6:30PM), and William Seymour (3-4:30PM) under the new solarium pavilion, with proceeds benefiting New River Land Trust and Poverty Creek Trails Coalition. The suggested donation is $15+ and we'll have an info booth/donation station set up hosted by the non-profit beneficiaries.

We repeat ... parking is limited so CARPOOL 🚐, RIDE 🚲 OR USE A RIDE SERVICE 🚕. That will help to allow more attendees. 🙏

It’s meant to be relaxed, fun, and community-centered - a simple way to kick off summer while supporting two organizations that help make this area such a special place to live.

Roots Fest Non-Profit Spotlight: New River Land Trust

Roots Fest is about more than great music. 🌿 One of the two non-profits that this year’s event will benefit is the New River Land Trust, an incredible local organization working to conserve the farmland, forests, open spaces, and historic places of the New River region. They work directly with landowners to conserve and restore land, while also partnering with local and regional organizations on larger conservation and public access projects like Brush Mountain Park. Since 2002, they’ve helped protect more than 58,000 acres across Southwest Virginia!

We’re grateful for the chance to bring people together for a fun afternoon while also supporting work that has a lasting impact in our community. Join us Saturday, June 6 from 3-9 PM at Rising Silo Brewery.
