In Loving Memory of Maria Victoria “Mavic” Cabrera-Balleza

We extend our deepest condolences to the family, friends, and the entire membership of the Global Network of Women Peacebuilders (GNWP) on the passing of their Founder and CEO, Maria Victoria Cabrera-Balleza.

Mavic was a passionate advocate and a global champion for the full implementation of the Women, Peace, and Security agenda. Her dedication to uplifting women and girls in conflict-affected communities and promoting peace and inclusive leadership has left a lasting impact across the world, including Liberia where she contributed greatly to peacebuilding efforts.

Her vision, leadership, and commitment to advancing women's participation in peace and security will continue to inspire generations. She also strongly supported the global campaign for the appointment of the first female Secretary-General of the United Nations, reflecting her unwavering belief in gender equality and inclusive leadership.

We stand in solidarity with GNWP and the global peacebuilding community during this difficult time. May her legacy continue to shine, and may her soul rest in perfect peace.
