Big changes coming around the Blackhawk based firehouse. New radio tower for fire communication construction has started and demo of the old side of the firehouse has started . Sadly we couldn’t save this side due to ground structure issues and insurance wouldn’t cover repairs … go figure … so this will come down and make room for more parking . Keep an eye out we are growing growing growing .

Looking to help your neighbors and give back to your community. We we may have a place for you. We have opportunities to volunteer your time as a first responder . We offer opportunity for training , equipment and certification free to you . Emergency Medical Technician training can also be paid for with completed class and two year devotion to the department . Come join a growing and expanding department . To old you say , well we may have a place for you as well . Support services may be a place for you . Driving trucks helping with equipment and station duties are a huge help to us. Please inquire on our page messenger . Our small communities are in need of great people to help.

At the permission of the boys mother I wanted to share this photo with you . Your Pierson Firefighters responded to a scary call last evening with a 13 year old boy was hit by a vehicle while riding down the road . Fault of the accident is not the point here but this photo captured by the mother shows multiple agencies working together for one common cause . The boy was flow to Riley Children’s Hospital with non life threatening injuries and he was wearing a helmet . We cannot stress the importance of wearing helmets when riding any type of ATV or motorcycle. This incident could have ended a lot worse. Our first responders are praying for a speedy recovery and also watching over each other at this time . Small Communities with big hearts .

Pierson Firefighters were dispatched to 10950 E St Rd 246 on a structure fire . Upon arrival found a semi attached three car garage 75 percent involved . All occupants had left the structure and were safely accounted for in the front yard . Firefighters battled the blaze and kept the fire from getting into the attached house and the fire was brought under control in 20 minutes . Riley Fire Department and Lewis Two Fire Also assisted to bring water to the rural area and manpower . Goes to show working well with neighboring departments is better for the community . Homeowners were back in there residence in the late afternoon . The cause of the fire in still under investigation .

Ice thickness guide! Ice is starting to form or has formed on many area lakes, ponds, and rivers thanks to very cold temperatures! We know many get excited and start thinking about Ice related activities but its important not to venture out too early and to ALWAYS check the Ice before going on it! It takes 4" of clear ice to hold an adult and a minimum of 30" to take your pet T-Rex for a walk on the ice.

On average 250 people die each year from falling through thin ice from drowning and hypothermia! Remember that when in doubt, DON'T venture out!Important Note: not all ice is the same! This size reference is for new clear ice. Ice which is cloudy, had heavy snow on it, or has been through a thaw/freeze cycle can be weak and unstable!
