Help an Angel

Help an Angel This page is set up in honor of a little 4 month old border collie that was found.

Not only was she a drop off, but she is the victim of cruelty that was inflicted by humans. This page is set up to not only to make people aware of Angel, but all the animals that have suffered from the cruelty of humans.

for those wondering what's new and exciting here at Help an Angel... well, many of you all know I had to take a break from rescue for a bit due to health issues- I broke my foot, dislocated my knee, fractured my kneecap and severely bruised my femur (the bottom 3 inches of it!!).. it's been a long 17 weeks but I FINALLY have clearance from my doctor and I am able to start walking again!!

I just wanted to apologize for being out of touch lately!!! I have had a pretty rough few weeks and am still having a rough time :(

On April 19th, I fell and broke my foot in 2 places, dislocated my knee and fractured my knee cap. I broke the 5th metatarsal in my foot- which is the long bone that goes along the outside of my foot towards my little toe. I broke it at the ankle end and not the toe end, if that makes any sense. I was instructed to keep ALL weight off my foot, live on crutches with my foot in a boot and keep off of it and elevated as much as absolutely possible! Every time I stood up, my leg from the knee down would change colors to a blackish-purple, which honestly, was more than enough to keep me seated! Over the next 4 weeks, I was at the doctor 6 times, had 5 x-rays and an MRI.

On May 13th, they discovered I had actually bruised the bones within my knee joint and also had a fluid pocket under my knee cap. They also discovered the break in my foot suddenly got worse and the 3-4 bone chips were separating and fusing to the wrong bones which was causing the joint to solidify. Surgery on my foot was scheduled for the earliest appointment available which was one May 22nd and an appointment with a knee specialist was made for May 28th.

Since surgery, I have lived on my couch, unable to do much of anything and honestly, the pain is worse than anything I have ever felt- including the delivery of my 2 children (via c-section)! I have been told that if I put ANY weight on my foot, the titanium hook plate the doctor used to secure the bone in the correct position will snap in half. The reason is because where the bone broke is right where the tendon attaches to the bone and unfortunately, as strong as titanium is, it is no match for tendons. This also means there is a minimum healing time of 10-12 weeks at the least and with NO weight on my foot at all- not even resting the toe of my boot on the floor when standing! Hopefully, if everything heals correctly, I will be able to begin walking mid to late August.

Again, I apologize for not posting more than I have, but I hope you all can understand a little better.

the photos attached are of my 1st x-ray that shows the breaks
the 2nd photo shows the x-ray that shows the separation
there is one photo to show what a hook plate is and does
the other photo is of the tendons in the foot-

Kiwi is a 2 year old that weighs around 25 lbs! Good with kids & dogs both small and large... but not good with cats. She is spayed and current on shots as well!! Owners were given until SUNDAY to get rid of her cause the neighbors dogs caused problems and now the tenants have to be pet free..

I am trying to help find her a home- if you are interested in her, PLEASE message me ASAP

Well, I apologize for being MIA lately- my college classes are in full swing and having 10 dogs in my house on top of the kids/hubby/farm is quite time consuming! I just want to update everyone as to what happened this week!

Just to update everyone.. Oscar, Allen and Jazmine are all doing well since their procedures yesterday!! Luckily we had JUST enough in the Help An Angel account to cover the cost of the much needed surgeries. However, as of right now, there is not enough to get them microchipped. We are down to $26 and some change.

On a different note, Princess is still available for adoption and Oscar, Allen and Jazmine will be ready for new homes as soon as their stitches come out! If you would like to adopt one of these precious babies, please email me at [email protected] .

Princess is a 20 lb package of adorableness wrapped up in soft, silky white fur with a touch of black. She was pulled off death row after being surrendered to a VERY high kill shelter because the owners found out they were pregnant.

She is around 4-5 years old and appears to be a Havanese or a Havanese mixt. Her small almond eyes and wiry coat along with her size fits the Havanese description to a "T". Of course, being a rescue that was surrendered, there is NO guarantee.

Regardless of what breed she is, she is an absolute snuggle-bug and loves to be around people once she learns she can trust them. After all she has been through, being leery of people is completely understandable! We feel that Princess would do best in a quite home. But of course, with the right training, she would do well in most any home as long as the adopter was patient and understanding as well as being willing to understand her needs.

She is spayed, up to date on shots, microchipped, housebroken and kennel trained- this makes her ready for a new home! If you are interested in adopting this sweet girl, feel free to message me for an adoption application.

well, tomorrow is the big day for Oscar, Allen and Jazmine!! They go to the vet for their surgeries!! If you would like to donate to help pay for their surgeries, please contact Blackfoot Animal Clinic @ (208)785-1960.. even $5-$10 would be a HUGE help at this point!

Once they are recovered from the minor procedures they are having, they will be ready and actively looking for their fur-ever homes! If you are interested in adopting one of these precious fur-babies, please send your email to [email protected] !

I apologize for the delay, but I have been up to my neck with puppies!!

Update from the vet:

We took Bear with us to the vet to have him looked at again. He is still having a bit of trouble with his stomach as well as vision. His vision is VERY limited and he is still running into things here. It has been concluded that what ever was going on with his eye that was removed is happening to his other eye. As far as his stomach issues, we are going to try a different food to see if that helps..

Oscar, Allen and Jazmine are all going to the vet on Tuesday to have surgeries- neuters/ spay as well as Oscar's eye fixed and the vet is going to try to take the scar tissue off Allen's head.
