"Rollin' for a Cause"

"Rollin' for a Cause" 2011 was the first of many yet to come, and here we are, already into our fourth year. In our first year, we were successful in raising just over $10,000!

Last year was more successful than we could ever in our wildest dreams imagined! We were able to assist 6 local families, donate $1000 to JDRF as well as establish an annual scholarship program to Bingham County graduating seniors in the amount of $1000. This has been established as the "Camille Coles Memorial Scholarship", funded by Rollin For A Cause. In 2012 we raised just over $16,000! We help

ed multiple families, again donated to JDRF, provided a scholarship, conducted Diabetes awareness classes for the community and have worked at Paying it Forward.

2013 raised the bar higher than we could ever have dreamed! Just over $40,000! $10,000 coming from our local Wal-Mart. That is some pretty heavy faith in what we are doing! Our 2014 event will start with a "ride" not exclusive to only motorcycles. If you have wheels, come join us! Saturday August 2nd and our final destination will be the Elks Lodge here in Blackfoot, where we will have a dinner and a live auction to be followed by a live band. If you can't make the ride, join us for the other events. We hope you will follow us as we keep everyone informed and excited about this project. In the coming months we will keep you updated on the awesome prizes for the raffle and the items that we will be offering for our auction. We also want to recognize the wonderful donors that make this all possible. Stay tuned and get ready to "roll' with us! As you can see, we have some high expectations to live to and we need all of the support, energy and volunteers we can get. Paying it forward, 'cause that's how we ROLL!

This is going to be cool! :)

OK! After feeling like I have fallen off the face of the earth for a couple of weeks, I have resurfaced! We did awesome on our acution, bringing in over $8200! Thank you to EVERYONE who made this happen! From folks gathering items, to those that donated, to those that attended. It takes everyone! I am always humbled at the end of the night to see the generosity of this great community and how large and giving their hearts are. Thank you Blackfoot and surrounding communities that continue to support us. That being said, if anybody is interested in a "Rollin For The Cause' t-shirt, we still have some for sale. They are $10 each and we have some in every size, up to 3XL. We have children's sizes as well. Please let me know if you are interested. I have these upstairs at the Elks and can be picked up there.

Borrowed from another post. I don't know the author:

I don't care about the color of your skin
Or how much money you have in the bank.
It doesn't matter to me about political views
Or where, in social status, you may rank.
Your child may be very popular
Or maybe they haven't started school.
I'm simply here to shut down their pancreas
And taking care of me is the #1 rule.
My name is Type 1 Diabetes
And once you've got me, I don't let go.
You will constantly be checking on me
To see if I'm high or if I'm low.
Yes, I am the center of attention
Because there is no cure for me.
It's all about monitors, needles and pumps
And taking care of all my needs.

Hello, Type 1
I guess we haven't met.
But if you think you're taking over
Well, you ain't seen nothing yet!
We are the anchors, the fighters,
The heroes called Mom and Dad.
And believe me when I tell you
We're the worst enemy you've ever had.
Our children are our lives
And we believe in support and prayer.
Though we don't have a way of beating you
They are constantly in our care.
We'll make sure the lives they lead
Are as normal as can be.
They will run, jump, dance and play sports.
They'll eat what they want,
and we'll adjust accordingly.
You may have been a set-back
But you don't have complete control.
Managing you and wiping you out
Has become our only goal.
We will fight you 'til the end
And we'll make a lot of noise...
We are a force to be reckoned with....
We are the parents of type 1 girls and boys!!

Thank you Idaho State Journal! Do did great as always Kendra. :)

More awesomeness.

Sierra Sandison couldn't imagine how she would hide an insulin pump during beauty pageants. So she decided to show it off for the Miss Idaho pageant. She won. Type 1 diabetics say they won, too.
