Friends Sharing Food in collaboration with the Hunger Relief Federation of Wisconsin and the Hunger Task Force of La Crosse shared 14 cases (84 containers) of baby formula with the Women, Infant and Children (WIC) of Jackson County to be shared with county residents in need during the current baby formula shortage. The students at Red Creek Elementary in Black River Falls held a cereal challenge and provide 750 boxes of cereal to Friends Sharing Food. The food will be distributed though the organizations various pantries to Jackson County residents. Friends Sharing Food received a donation of $500 from the Knights of Columbus (KOC) 4697 Black River Falls Chapter to be put towards the purchase of food items. Co-President of Friends Sharing Food, Jon Warmke stated that the funds will be used by Friends Sharing Food to support the various pantries the organization operates in Jackson County to assist those in need. Thank you to the Melrose Mindoro 7th and 8th grade Student Council for their donation to Friends Sharing Food!

Student Council representatives Ashley Wyss & Hailey Hiles present a check to Carly Dobson from Friends Sharing Food organization. Seventh & eighth grade students held a "penny war" and over $450 was donated to the Friends Sharing Food group.

Friends Sharing Food of Jackson County received $1,245 in Chamber Bucks from JCB’s Bank It Forward effort. Lois Smetana and the other volunteers work hard to help provide food for area residents, so we hope the Chamber Bucks will not only benefit Friends Sharing Food, but also start the positive “chain effect” of spending locally.

The Neighborhood Food Pantry is open, for all Jackson County residents, Tuesday July 14th from 9:00 – 10:00, at the Gebhardt school and their satellite sites including:
Alma Center Town Hall;
Hixton Village Hall on Main Street;
Melrose Village Hall;
Evangelical Countryside Free Church in Merrillan;
Community Center in Millston;
Community Center in Taylor;
Just a reminder...you may visit only one of these sites per month.
