So very proud of Service Dog Chief! It took some time and patience before he would capably retrieve something like a piece of PVC. Look at him now!

We’re hosting an in-person meeting as part of Your Dog’s Best Friend Book Club. This is *free* and moderated by our lead service dog trainer; concepts will be framed in the context of positive reinforcement.

Please join us on Saturday, June 6 at 4:00 PM at the Broad River Valley Community Center at 44 Broad River VFD, Black Mountain. If you need help purchasing a copy of the book, we have a limited number that we can provide at no cost.

RSVP to [email protected].

After losing our pasture and farmstead to a Helene-related mudslide, we’re grateful for every single moment we can spend in the pasture. Livestock guardian dog, Teeter, is showing service dog in-training River the best and shadiest areas while enjoying a good romp through the trout stream.

Kentucky “River” enjoyed some runaway games today as part of his service dog journey. His hard work was rewarded with a picnic in Montreat with his raisers and his brother, Tucker, before a long afternoon napping in the cool weather.

The costs of River’s upbringing are covered by Alltech and the Pearse Lyons ACE Foundation so that he may be placed at no cost to his recipient. Our return to puppy raising and, eventually, placements after a very long post-Helene recovery is celebrated every single time we see these puppies from Spun Gold Golden Retrievers. We are very grateful to be able to serve our community again.

The One Acre One Health gardens in Swannanoa are supporting the community meals at Blunt Kitchen, with excess produce free for the taking. We’re proud to be doing our part to reduce the need for free, fresh food in a community without a grocery store. Below, Rocket and Wiley are at the home farm, sampling vegetables they’ve never had.
