Friends, join Kenny Capps Monday, June 8th! It's Men's Mental Health Awareness month and HealthTree for Multiple Myeloma is hosting a powerful webinar:

Moving Forward with Myeloma: A Men's Health Month Special with Kenny Capps
Jun 08, 2026 / 02:00PM - 03:00PM EDT

"Join us for a powerful and candid conversation this Men's Health Month as we sit down with Kenny Capps, an endurance athlete, father of three & step-father to 4, and the Executive Director of Cancer Active and the creator of the Cancer Active Patient Portal. Diagnosed with multiple myeloma at age 42, Kenny refused to let a life-altering diagnosis permanently sideline him. In this exclusive, one-on-one interview, Kenny will share his unfiltered experience, from the shock of his diagnosis and navigating those early adjustments alongside his family, to the mental and physical grit required to run about 1200 miles across North Carolina post-bone marrow transplant on the Mountains to Sea Trail. We’ll dive deep into what it truly means to "keep moving forward," exploring how Kenny proactively manages his mental health, the critical importance of routine men's health screenings outside of cancer care, and the daily practices he uses to reclaim control. This is an unflinching, honest look at strength, vulnerability, and life beyond the clinical chart."

At , Cancer Active Executive Director Kenny Capps had the honor of joining a powerful conversation centered on one critical question: What do patients need to feel prepared for the decisions ahead in their care?

As the patient voice on the panel, Kenny brought lived experience, honesty, and perspective to a discussion focused on the road ahead for cancer care, patient advocacy, myeloma, lymphoma, and the evolving research shaping treatment options.

These conversations are critical to the future because progress in cancer care cannot happen through research alone. It must include the voices of the people navigating diagnosis, treatment, survivorship, uncertainty, and everything in between.

Thank you to Anita Gandhi, Mecide Gharibo, Filip Odqvist, Dr. Joseph Mikhael, and the Global Patient Outreach Team for creating space for patient-centered dialogue.

Cancer Active is grateful to be part of conversations that keep the patient voice at the center of what comes next.

Reminder that Lori Fleming of Camp Bluebird of WNC will be joining us NEXT Thursday for the June Support Group!

She will be joining us for a conversation on the importance of focusing on “quality of life” care alongside medical treatment.

Lori serves as Executive Director of Bluebird Programs of the Carolinas and Director of Camp Bluebird, bringing both personal experience and lifelong dedication to the cancer community. Inspired by her brother’s childhood leukemia diagnosis, Lori spent five years as a camper at Camp Kemo before returning as a counselor for 15 years. It was also where she met her husband, Andy, and together they have volunteered with Camp Bluebird for more than a decade.

Now leading the organization, Lori is passionate about creating meaningful, hope-filled experiences for cancer survivors and expanding programs that support the survivor community. She is committed to ensuring Camp Bluebird remains a place where hearts connect, strength grows, and spirits soar.

Outside of camp, Lori enjoys family time, hiking, traveling, and cooking for loved ones.
