Two senior sweethearts are looking for loving homes—Bella and Amalia (not bonded and may be adopted separately).

💖 Amalia (“Grandma”) is a gentle senior who was found starving, flea-infested, and weighing less than 4 pounds. Despite years of hardship and being abandoned by her owner, this 13–15-year-old sweetheart still loves people. She enjoys cuddling, giving gentle kisses, and “talking” with her humans. She deserves a warm, safe home where she can spend her golden years surrounded by love.

🖤 Bella is a 14-year-old former bottle baby who lost her home after many years because she would not accept a new cat. She is a quiet, loyal companion who prefers to be the only cat and loves following her person from room to room. Bella comes with her favorite belongings and is fully vetted.

These precious seniors have experienced heartbreak and deserve a forever home filled with love, comfort, and security.

Remembering a Great Friend to Laps and Naps 🕊️

We were saddened to learn this morning of the passing of Diana Wortham.

Diana will be remembered throughout the Asheville community for her extraordinary philanthropic support of the arts. At Laps and Naps, we will remember her as a loyal monthly donor, a generous supporter of our sanctuary campaign, and the devoted adopter of sweet Pearl.

Before bringing Pearl home, Diana visited her foster home to meet her. Barbara Dietz, Pearl’s foster mom, fondly recalls Diana as a warm, gracious woman who instantly fell in love with Pearl. From that day forward, Pearl wanted for nothing and was deeply cherished in Diana’s care.

Diana’s kindness, generosity, and compassion touched countless lives—both human and feline. We are grateful for the support she gave our mission and for the loving home she provided to one very lucky senior cat.

We extend our heartfelt thoughts, love, and gratitude to Diana’s family and friends during this difficult time.

Rest peacefully, Diana. Your legacy of kindness will not be forgotten. ❤️

UPDATE: FOSTER FOUND 🥳

💔 Hazelnut is down on her luck.

📍 Location: Hendersonville, NC Animal Shelter

Hazelnut was found as a stray and brought to the shelter. Thankfully, she had a microchip—but when staff tried to contact her family, the phone number on file was no longer working.😿

This sweet 12-year-old spayed girl is understandably scared and confused. The constant crying of kittens around her has been overwhelming, and she hasn’t been eating much since arriving at the shelter. After years of knowing a home, she now finds herself alone in a noisy, unfamiliar environment.😾

Hazelnut doesn’t need much—just a quiet spare room with a window, a soft bed, and someone willing to give her a chance to feel safe again.

🎊 Congratulations! 🎊

Simba, a 9-year-old gray tabby, and Tiger Lily, a 10-year-old orange tabby, found themselves at the shelter after their beloved person passed away. A friend stepped in to rescue them from the shelter and reached out to us for help finding a home where they could stay together.

Thankfully, Kerstan answered the call. Having previously adopted two special-needs cats from us and lovingly cared for them throughout their lives, she opened her heart and home to this grieving pair. After spending the past month helping Simba and Tiger Lily settle in, she has decided to make them permanent members of her family!

We couldn’t be happier for Simba and Tiger Lily as they begin this new chapter together in a home filled with love. Thank you, Kerstan, for giving these deserving seniors the happy ending they needed. ❤️🐾

Goodbye, Bat Cat 😿 🌈

When we were asked to help Bat Cat, the odds felt stacked against him. This senior boy had been living outdoors after struggling with severe diarrhea and litter box issues. He survived on food left out by neighbors, even sharing meals with a skunk.

Thankfully, Gael and Joseph opened their home and hearts to him. They cleaned him up, provided a proper diet and supplements, and gave him the love, comfort, and security every cat deserves. For a short time, it looked like he was improving.

Sadly, Bat Cat’s condition worsened. An ultrasound revealed severe intestinal inflammation and likely lymphoma. After discussions between the veterinarian, foster family, and Laps and Naps, the decision was made to help him pass peacefully and free from pain.

Gael and Joseph are heartbroken by the loss of this sweet boy they had hoped would become a permanent member of their family. We are deeply grateful for the compassion they showed Bat Cat during his final weeks, giving him warmth, dignity, and unconditional love when he needed it most.

🐾 Gracie Needs a New Home 🐾

15-year-old Gracie has spent her entire life with one beloved elderly woman. Today, her person was moved into a nursing home, and Gracie now needs a safe place to land. 😿

This sweet senior enjoys quiet companionship, loves being brushed while sitting beside her person, and likes to sleep in a basket on the bed. She isn’t fond of being picked up but will tolerate it briefly. Gracie has lived as the only pet and would do best in a calm home without young children.

Her family has agreed to have her examined by a veterinarian, including a senior wellness panel and rabies vaccination.

Meet Lulu, a beautiful 15-year-old spayed calico who is facing an uncertain future through no fault of her own. Her beloved person is losing their home and must move out by the end of this month, leaving Lulu in urgent need of a safe place to go.

Lulu was adopted when she was about a year old and has spent nearly her entire life with her family. She is a sweet, gentle, and very timid girl who has never been aggressive and never causes trouble. Aside from being a little overweight, she is healthy and has so much love left to give.

We are urgently trying to find a safe, loving place for two 12-14 year old senior cats after their 84-year-old owner now needs full-time caregiving. These sweet companions have been with him since they were kittens, and our goal is to keep them out of a shelter where their age puts them at risk.

Mouse – spayed white female 🤍
Midnight – neutered black male 🖤

They do not need to be placed together:

* Midnight prefers a home without male cats
* Mouse does not do well with female cats
