SVCM’s 2025 financial audit is complete, and we’re pleased to share that we aced it! 💯

This independent, third-party review of our financial statements helps to verify our integrity and trustworthiness as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. 🔎 It’s an optional step, but we like to hold ourselves to the highest level of accountability. SVCM has done a financial audit every year for over a decade - and every year we’ve had a clean audit! ✅

📗 SVCM’s 2025 Annual Report is now available! 📗

2025 was a year of extreme challenge for the Swannanoa Valley, as our community navigated the first year of recovery from Helene. SVCM saw increased community need across the board. Helene damaged an estimated 11,500 homes and destroyed 372 in Buncombe County. In the months following, county unemployment tripled to nearly 11%. At the same time, cost-of-living increased by about 5% from 2024 to 2025. Amidst all this hardship, we also witnessed the remarkable resilience of our neighbors, who are persevering to find healing and hope.

2025 was a year of extraordinary growth for SVCM, as we expanded capacity in our existing programs and added new ones to meet unprecedented needs. In our Crisis Ministry, we offered 257% more rental assistance, 60% more utility assistance, and served 95 more households in 2025 compared to 2024. We also added two new programs to SVCM — NeighborCare and Hammer & Heart. Wow, were we busy!

We hope you’ll take time to read about SVCM’s community impact in 2025. Support from you — our volunteers, donors, community partners, and neighbors — is what made this possible. So find a quiet spot, grab a cup of coffee or tea, and dive in to discover the difference you helped create for our neighbors in need. Together, and with God.

Hammer & Heart’s new workshop is looking spiffy with all our signage in place! If you happen to see us while driving down NC-9, give us a wave! We’re so excited for all we’re going to build for our community in this new space. 🔨💚

SVCM staff and volunteers enjoyed a night out at the ballpark this Monday! ⚾ Unfortunately, the Greensboro Grasshoppers hopped all over the Asheville Tourists. But we still had a good time. SVCM made it onto the jumbotron, and the youngest members of our party got to give the official “Play ball!” shout out at the beginning of the game!
