When was the last time someone asked how you were doing.....and you answered honestly?
Not the automatic "I'm good."
Not the version that's easier for everyone else.
The real answer.
Mental health affects more people than most of us realize, yet many of us still carry our struggles quietly. Sometimes because we don't know how to talk about them. Sometimes because we don't think anyone wants to hear them.
Jesse Purcell, Jennifer Hood, and David McGee sat down for a conversation that started with a simple question:
What happens when we stop treating mental health like a monthly awareness campaign and start treating it like a human experience?
No experts. No lectures.
Just real people having a real conversation.

🎙️ Part 4 premieres Sunday | 10AM MT

We didn’t rush this one. There’s just been a lot — all at once — and we wanted to give this last part the space it deserved.

Some conversations need time to breathe…and this one took its time.

Sitting down with Jesse Purcell, Jennifer Hood, and David McGee, this final part felt less like wrapping something up and more like recognizing where things really are.

Still growing. Still figuring it out. Still choosing to move forward anyway. That’s what stayed with us.

If you’ve been following along with Ronin Project, we appreciate you being in it with us. If you’re just finding this series, you can step into it wherever you need.

🎙️ Real Talk | Jesse’s 2YR — Part 3 drops this Sunday

The longer the journey goes, the more the conversation shifts. In Part 3, Jesse Purcell, Jennifer Hood, and David McGee move deeper into what rebuilding actually demands — the moments where growth doesn’t feel inspiring…it just feels real.

Some of the hardest parts of reentry aren’t the obvious ones.
They’re the quiet adjustments.
The internal shifts.
The realization that becoming someone new takes time.
If you’ve been following the series, you know each episode opens another layer of the story.

If you’re just joining us, now’s the perfect time to start.

🎙️ Real Talk | Jesse’s 2YR – Part 2 drops this Sunday

Year two isn’t quieter.
It’s deeper.

In Part 1 of this series cohosts and cofounders, Jesse Purcell, Jennifer Hood and David McGee opened the door to what life after incarceration really looks like — not the headline version, but the day-to-day rebuilding.

This Sunday, Part 2 continues the conversation.

We move into the tension points:
• What freedom feels like when systems still remember your past
• The pressure to “prove” yourself
• The weight of expectations — internal and external
• And what growth actually costs

If you haven’t watched Part 1, now’s the time.

It’s the starting point.

🎙️ Real Talk | Jesse’s 2YR – A 4-Part Series

Reentry doesn’t end when someone walks out the gate. Two years after incarceration, what does rebuilding actually require?

In this four-part series, Jesse Purcell, alongside co-hosts Jennifer Hood and David McGee, break down the realities that don’t make headlines:

• Navigating opportunity with a record
• Redefining identity outside prison walls
• Carrying both growth and consequence at the same time
• Building something meaningful while still being rebuilt yourself

This isn’t a celebration post. It’s an honest look at the long road after release.

The first episode drops March 1st.

If you care about reentry, justice reform, or what sustainable second chances truly take — this series is for you.

🤝 New Official Partner Announcement

We’re proud to officially welcome Foothills Animal Shelter as a Ronin Project partner through their Better Together Program.

Foothills Animal Shelter’s mission centers on preserving the human–animal bond, especially during moments of crisis. Through partnerships with human service agencies and animal control, their Better Together Program helps families stay connected to — or reunite with — their pets after traumatic experiences such as housing instability, emergency hospitalization, domestic violence, or incarceration.

This partnership reflects a shared belief: pets are family, and healing is stronger when families aren’t forced to choose between safety and the animals they love. Together, we’re expanding trauma-informed, dignity-centered support for individuals and families across the tri-county area of Clear Creek, Gilpin, and Jefferson Counties.

As part of our work in keeping pets with their families, we have partnered with Human Service Agencies and our Animal Control Partners to bring services to the citizens of Jefferson County. Our goal is to preserve the human-animal bond by providing support and services to those who need it.

Transparency isn’t optional for us — it’s foundational.

At Ronin Project, we believe trust is built through openness. That’s why we’ve added a Financial Transparency page to our website, outlining how funds are received, stewarded, and used to support our mission.

As a growing nonprofit, we’re committed to accountability, clarity, and ethical leadership — not just because it’s required, but because our community deserves it.

If you believe in nonprofits doing this work the right way, we invite you to take a look:

Rural communities experience 20–30% higher clothing insecurity due to limited retail access and higher transportation costs (USDA Economic Research Service).
Mountain and rural areas feel this even more during summer: families often travel long distances just to find affordable warm-weather clothing, and options are limited. That’s why our Summer Clothing Drive (Jan–Mar) supports rural families alongside urban partners — ensuring kids and adults have season-appropriate clothing as temperatures rise.
If your business wants to host a donation bin, we’re actively adding partner sites this season.
