Are you interested in 4-H, but not sure what to do next? Well, this post is a great place to start!
The first step to getting involved with 4-H is picking a club to join.
What is a 4-H club? This is a group of 4-H members and volunteers who meet regularly to plan club activities/events, discuss club business, and explore interest areas through presentations and activities. Regular attendance helps families stay up to date on things happening throughout the 4-H year and build connections with volunteers, members, and their families.
We have 9 clubs to choose from, between Jefferson and Gilpin Counties. (We help manage their program too!) Check out this map - https://col.st/m5889 -to see where they are located and find club leader contact information!
When choosing a club, we recommend considering your child's interests - does this club have a leader that can help support a project in their interest area? You should also think about where a club meets - are you going to be able to attend club meetings if you live 30 minutes away? Also consider how old your child is - will they be able to meet other members that are their age?
If you are not sure what club is right for you, please reach out to our Program Coordinator Christine, to help talk through your options and get a recommendation on who might be a good fit! She can be reached at [email protected] or (303)271-6633.
Once you have a club selected, don't be afraid to join a meeting! This is in fact our first recommendation before enrolling. Reach out to a club's volunteer leader to find out when you can join to see if their club is a good match for your family!
