Did you know that approximately 400,000 women served in the military during WWII?
On the second Sunday of August, Spirit of ’45 Day, we celebrate the official end of WWII and honor the Greatest Generation, who fought to preserve democracy globally.
Women served in a wide variety of roles in the war, from building the U.S.’ arsenal to saving lives as nurses and everything in between. Every single woman who joined the war effort volunteered to serve and ultimately shaped the outcome of the war and world history.
As the ranks of living WWII veterans wane as time passes, it is every American’s responsibility to remember what they fought against and consider their individual duty to uphold freedom for all.
