Join us for the Veterans Coffee Social on Tuesday, October 20th. Our guest speaker this month is Rich Ferry, the Outreach Coordinator at the Great Falls Vet Center. We are at the Great Falls Senior Center, upstairs, and start at 8:30 am. Open to the public!

Comrades:

In the last couple of days scammers have been very busy in our Department. One of our members was scammed out of $3000.00 and this morning someone pretending to be Violet Tharp tried to get me to send $600.00 of gift cards to her.

1. We would never request a member to make a purchase of gift cards for the Department.

2. If you ever get a request to purchase any Gift Cards please contact me ASAP 100% it was a SCAM attempt.

3. On both of the SCAMS the email addresses didn't match either Lonnies or Violets actuals emails addresses.

4. Please pass this email on to everyone. I do not want to see anyone else get scammed. I will make it my mission to put these scumbags in jail.

The Veterans Coffee Social tomorrow morning at the Great Falls Senior Center is canceled for August and September because of travel. We’ll see everyone again the third Tuesday of October at 8:30 am with another guest speaker.

Senator Moran brought the ‘Take Care of America’s Veterans Act’ (S.4744) to the floor today at 3:00 pm EDT. Senator Blumenthal brought an amendment to it for an alternative way to pay for the benefits without taking benefits from other veterans. Senator Moran objected. Senator Blumenthal objected when Senator Moran asked for Unanimous Consent on S.4744. As Senator Blumenthal pointed out, the cost of taking care of veterans is part of the cost of war. Let’s not fail our veterans! Continue to reach out to our senators to amend Section 108, the funding mechanism that takes from future veterans to pay for other veterans programs. Our guest speaker this month is a Veteran Service Officer (VSO) from the Montana Veterans Affairs Division. She will update us on veteran benefits, and answer questions. You don’t need to go to a claim shark…have a VSO file your claim for benefits for FREE.

House Speaker Mike Johnson sent House members home today, not to return until mid-July, because of the dysfunction there. This gives us more time to have conversations with Rep. Zinke and Rep. Downing while they are home about opposition to taking disability from veterans, and not legislating VA disability ratings. OPPOSE HR 9237, the Take Care of America’s Veterans Act.
