Ever wonder what it's like to volunteer with us? It's not all historical photos and building mine displays, sometimes it's pulling a part of our wall down to rescue an unexpected house guest!

Little guy is fine, albeit not pleased! Thanks to Dennis and crew for helping the little guy out!

Vote once per day from June 8 through June 26.

Did you forget something? We've got a couple things that were turned over to us that we'd love to get back to you!

A huge, heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone who came out to celebrate Black Diamond Heritage Day and our America 250 kickoff!

Rain, sun, and a passing boom of thunder or two placed no damper on us and seeing the community come together, from the incredible outfits to all the wonderful conversations sharing our local history, made all the planning and preparation completely worth it. The energy and support you brought to the museum's anniversary events were truly inspiring.

Among our already packed calendar preparing for HERITAGE DAY, we had a chance to come together today for a beloved tradition.

Every year, we are incredibly honored to welcome back Black Diamond School students from years past to visit, reminisce, and reconnect with old friends.

Today's reunion was made extra special by the talented 4th and 5th-grade choir from Black Diamond Elementary, who came down and put on a fantastic performance for us!

We were also treated to live music by Steve Isreal, who played three wonderful songs from his Echoes of the Mine CD.

A massive thank you to Jeannette and Nancy, who worked so hard to prepare and serve the food, and to all of our dedicated Museum volunteers. It was a truly super event!

If you've ever attended school here in Black Diamond, we look forward to seeing you next year!

We are absolutely thrilled to welcome some friends from the East Bay Regional Park District and the Black Diamond Mines Regional Preserve to celebrate with us this Saturday at HERITAGE DAY here in town! 🌲⛏️

Black Diamond, Washington owes its very name to a group of coal miners who moved here from California in the 1880s. The miners of the Black Diamond Coal Company left the town of Nortonville, traveled north, and built the historic town we love today. Without Nortonville, there is no Black Diamond!

They will be right here on Railroad Avenue to celebrate the Museum’s 50th Anniversary, witness the new coal mine exhibit ribbon cutting, and experience how we've carried their legacy of coal mining.

Come down to meet them, swap history stories, and welcome our California cousins to Washington!
