B.C. Gardeners

B.C. Gardeners For the love of gardening: to plant, to nurture, to grow. What started as a simple gardening project turned into a labor of love…and much more!

In 2009, a group of local garden enthusiasts decided to spruce up the landscaping at the Black Creek Community Center/Library.They picked up where others had left off, cleaning up and removing old landscaping and replanting flowerbeds with shrubs, perennials and annuals from their own gardens. Every year, the group undertakes one large project in addition to maintaining the perennial beds planted

those first two seasons. Now, six years later and on the verge of the group’s 7th growing season, BC Gardeners has become a place for gardeners to do more than dig and plant together. Members learn and travel together, too, and all within an informal, laidback framework. There are no dues or bylaws, but we do have informal meetings, lots of plant and seed exchanges, and tons of fun and laughter! If you’re interested in gardening - whether you’re a beginner or an old pro - and would like to get involved or learn more about BC Gardeners, post on or private message us here on Facebook or email us at [email protected]. We hope you’ll consider joining us - no green thumb required!

We are looking for help maintaining landscaping on this property. No heavy lifting involved – just occasional w**ding, watering and trimming. If interested, please comment below!

We started fall cleanup at the Post Office last week, but the planters full of annuals and a few late-blooming perennials still look nice. The pollinators sure are happy. 🐝🌼🌸

On this , we want to send a shoutout to a few special people who help keep the Black Creek Veterans Memorial looking so nice:
• Bob & Nancy Dudei, who support this project with a donation for geraniums even though they moved away from BC many years ago,
• John & Angie Mauthe, who made a donation to help purchase geraniums AND Angie fills in to cover watering duties when needed, and
• James Linsmeyer, who connected us with his employer, Orion Labels in Seymour, which supplied a truckload of cardboard we used as w**d barrier.

We couldn’t do this without help and appreciate so much that our friends and neighbors are so generous with their time, talent and pocketbooks! This is how we’re able to keep the Memorial property looking so beautiful. 🌱

On this , we want to send a shoutout to a few special people who help keep the Black Creek Veterans Memorial looking so nice:
• Sheila Beschta, who supported this project with a donation for geraniums AND she wrangles hoses to water twice a week; and
• Bruce & Sarah Stephani, who made a donation to help purchase geraniums AND helped with w**ding and other cleanup in the new landscape bed this spring. Plus Sarah is a triple threat: she has also filled in to cover watering duties on several occasions.

• Stubby & Joanie Doucette, and Pam & Paul Batte, two couples who no longer live in BC but remain big supporters of our fundraising campaign for geraniums every year.
• Bonnie Krupka, who helps with watering duties during the week.

We couldn’t do this without help and appreciate so much that our friends and neighbors are so generous with their time, talent and pocketbooks! This is how we’re able to keep the Memorial property looking so beautiful. 🌱
