To Everything There is a Season
An announcement from the Friends of Fallen Timbers

Dear Friends,

Over the course of the past 14+ years, the Friends of Fallen Timbers Group has grown from the simple idea of a grieving family seeking a way to honor the loss of a husband and father into a generous volunteer group of former and current teachers, parents, and other nature enthusiasts.

Whether you’ve pitched in for a seasonal Work Day now and then or joined us annually for our Run for the Timbers or made a purchase at one of our fundraisers (brats, kringle, socks, etc.), or just encouraged us on Facebook with pictures and shared events, we want to express our sincere appreciation for your support along the way. There is no doubt that, with your help over the past decade and a half, our successful fundraising and volunteer efforts had a “tree”mendously positive impact on the property and in the overall student, teacher, and staff experience at Fallen Timbers.

In addition to the support of many friends, family, and some terrific local companies, the bulk of this labor of love has been coordinated, supported, and lead for many years by a very small team of tirelessly dedicated volunteers. We were hopeful that our passion and long-term commitment to the effort would inspire others to take on the mantle of leadership. However, the quote is true, “to everything there is a season,” – and after many years of hoping, the season for new volunteers to step up and serve on the Friends of Fallen Timbers board has come and gone.

Therefore, we have made the difficult decision to disband our board, relinquish our non-profit status, and cease operations as an official group.

Although we will no longer directly coordinate any fundraising or volunteer activities to support Fallen Timbers, many of our volunteers plan to continue participating. For now, the Friends Group website (www.fallen-timbers.org) and page will continue to exist as we will use them to share information about volunteer opportunities when they are shared with us. If you are interested in connecting directly with Fallen Timbers, you are encouraged to visit their official website at https://fallentimbers.net/

Your participation in this effort has been as much an expression of friendship to us as it was a way to keep the Fallen Timbers educational experience as vibrant and exciting to the new generations of students as it has been to those of us who have so many special memories from trips of our own. Our passion for children, nature, and environmental education doesn’t end today; we hope yours won't either. Friends, thank you.

How about a sneak peek into some of the incredible baskets that will be available for bidding during our silent auction at the Fun Run tomorrow? These aren't the only ones - there will me more!

Bidding opens at 9:00am and closes at 11:30am. You do NOT need to be present to win, but you do need to bid in-person (or have someone in attendance bidding on your behalf.) And you do not have to register or participate in the run to join us for the silent auction. We are keeping our fingers crossed for huge support from our friends and the community - so please share far and wide. See you tomorrow!

**FUN RUN SITE USAGE & PROTOCOL UPDATE**

Fallen Timbers has established and communicated the parameters by which the Friends Group will be allowed to use the property to host the Fun Run for the Timbers this year.

Here is what you will need to know:

1ïžâƒŁ The bathrooms of the Nagel building will be accessible to attendees by the outside doors only. Masking inside the bathroom is absolutely mandatory and run volunteers are required to monitor to ensure compliance.

2ïžâƒŁ Four pre-approved volunteers will be allowed into the kitchen, via the outside door, to prepare food for the event. Masking inside the kitchen is absolutely mandatory and run volunteers are required to monitor to ensure compliance.

3ïžâƒŁ NO other access to any building or part of any building on the property is allowed by anyone for any reason.

We have already made accommodations to host the entire event outside, including: pre-run snacks, on-site registration and check-in, post-run chili and ice cream lunch. We are currently working on the logistics for the basket raffle and will communicate those details soon.

We have been informed that this list is not exhaustive, so if/when further restrictions are mandated, we will keep you informed and adjust our event accordingly.
