To Everything There is a Season
An announcement from the Friends of Fallen Timbers
Dear Friends,
Over the course of the past 14+ years, the Friends of Fallen Timbers Group has grown from the simple idea of a grieving family seeking a way to honor the loss of a husband and father into a generous volunteer group of former and current teachers, parents, and other nature enthusiasts.
Whether youâve pitched in for a seasonal Work Day now and then or joined us annually for our Run for the Timbers or made a purchase at one of our fundraisers (brats, kringle, socks, etc.), or just encouraged us on Facebook with pictures and shared events, we want to express our sincere appreciation for your support along the way. There is no doubt that, with your help over the past decade and a half, our successful fundraising and volunteer efforts had a âtreeâmendously positive impact on the property and in the overall student, teacher, and staff experience at Fallen Timbers.
In addition to the support of many friends, family, and some terrific local companies, the bulk of this labor of love has been coordinated, supported, and lead for many years by a very small team of tirelessly dedicated volunteers. We were hopeful that our passion and long-term commitment to the effort would inspire others to take on the mantle of leadership. However, the quote is true, âto everything there is a season,â â and after many years of hoping, the season for new volunteers to step up and serve on the Friends of Fallen Timbers board has come and gone.
Therefore, we have made the difficult decision to disband our board, relinquish our non-profit status, and cease operations as an official group.
Although we will no longer directly coordinate any fundraising or volunteer activities to support Fallen Timbers, many of our volunteers plan to continue participating. For now, the Friends Group website (www.fallen-timbers.org) and page will continue to exist as we will use them to share information about volunteer opportunities when they are shared with us. If you are interested in connecting directly with Fallen Timbers, you are encouraged to visit their official website at https://fallentimbers.net/
Your participation in this effort has been as much an expression of friendship to us as it was a way to keep the Fallen Timbers educational experience as vibrant and exciting to the new generations of students as it has been to those of us who have so many special memories from trips of our own. Our passion for children, nature, and environmental education doesnât end today; we hope yours won't either. Friends, thank you.
