Please join Tribal Alliance for Pollinators for our 2026 Spring Conference on April 22nd and 23rd in Bixby, Oklahoma at The Euchee Butterfly Farm!

This two-day free event at the Euchee Butterfly Farm will be centered on the theme, "Every Day is Earth Day: A Celebration of Indigenous Lands and Their Caretakers." Experts and community leaders will share their unique perspectives on why improving care for our lands is so important, and why it needs to happen now. We will also cover why native plant restoration is such an important part of the solution to the pollinator crisis and provide hands-on training on how to get started with improving land health.

Topics will include how to support monarch butterflies, the critical role of pollinators in our ecosystems, managing the encroachment of invasive species, using controlled burns to improve land health, increasing the productivity of working lands through native plant restoration, and much more!

Who should attend one of TAP's FREE workshops?
- Tribal staff from all departments who want to begin or increase pollinator support on tribal lands.
- Tribal members seeking assistance with restoring native plants for cultural preservation.
- Tribal members who want to restore some portion of their land to native wildlife habitat.
- Tribal members who are interested in supporting butterflies, bees, and other pollinators in their community.

Available registration slots are filling up quickly, so be sure to register early using the link below or by emailing [email protected] for the form.

The third installment of the 2026 TAP webinar series is coming this Thursday, March 19th at 2PM CST! In this installment, Dr. James Hung will provide an introduction to pollination science and an update on the status of Oklahoma's indigenous bees.

Dr. Hung's pollinator lab at the University of Oklahoma focuses on understanding the impacts of environmental change on plant-pollinator mutualisms and quantifying the consequences of such impacts on biodiversity conservation and ecosystem function. He applies techniques from various disciplines of biology to his studies in both natural and human-modified ecosystems. Currently, research foci include impacts of climate change on plant-pollinator systems, pollinator conservation in the Great Plains, ecosystem functionality of restored habitats, and refining techniques for effective monitoring of pollinator populations.

As a member of the Oklahoma Biological Survey and the Oklahoma Natural Heritage Inventory, Dr. Hung is also working to construct an inventory and distribution map of pollinator taxa within the state of Oklahoma, starting with native bees.

There is no cost to register for this free webinar, and the link is directly below! 🐝🌻🌱

The second installment of the 2026 TAP webinar series is coming on Thursday, February 19th!

From the Gulf Coastal Plain home to alligators and palmettos in the southeastern corner of the state to high plains and mesas dotted with ponderosa pine and big horn sheep in the panhandle, Oklahoma teems with biodiversity and surprisingly variable topography. More than 2,000 species of plants and 800 vertebrate animals, including 450 different birds, fill the state’s distinct ecoregions. Dr. Prisicilla Crawford’s webinar will give us tour of the state’s natural riches and explain why so many species of plants, animals, and bugs live here, and how to read the geological, climatological, and elevation transitions that make such diversity possible.

Dr. Crawford has been exploring Oklahoma’s biodiversity for over 25 years. Working at the Oklahoma Biological Survey for the past 19 years, she has studied all 12 of the state’s ecoregions – surveying endangered birds, looking for invasive aquatic plants, measuring trees of the Ozark forests, collecting data on mesquite grasslands, restoring biodiversity to degraded systems, and more. She manages the Oklahoma Natural Areas Registry Program, organizes outreach and science communication projects, and is currently the Oklahoma Natural Heritage Program Coordinator.

There is no cost to register for this free webinar. Best of all, you can log on to hear the presentation on your computer or phone!
