The Sertoma Club of Bismarck is the local chapter of Sertoma International. Started in 1912, Sertoma stands for Service to Mankind.

Hearing health plays an important role in experiencing and enjoying live theater and music. Healthy hearing allows audiences to fully appreciate dialogue, melodies, harmonies, and the subtle sounds that bring a performance to life. A few years ago, the club was delighted to participate in a statewide initiative to improve the experience at the musical in Medora, ND by installing a hearing loop system. Thanks to the Medora Musical for the shoutout and continued dedication to your guests and North Dakota!

This week the club was joined by Krisann Miller, the owner of Little Lights Pediatric Therapy. We had a wonderful discussion their services and the amazing value they provide to the youth in our community. They offer OT, PT, and Speech Therapy, which are all crucial to help youth address underlying skill needs, reduce barriers to learning and participation, and help students develop strategies that support independence, regulation, communication, and successful engagement at school.

The preseason is in full swing and so is our football book fundraiser. There is still plenty of time to purchase a book from any Bismarck Sertoman or reach out to us on social media! For just $20 you receive a weekly chance to win $50 based on the outcome of each Monday Night Football game. No participation required to win!

This week the club was treated to a great presentation about foster care and adoption in North Dakota by the ND Health and Human Services! Thank you for taking the time to discuss the current state of foster care in our state and the variety of ways to support fostering and adopting.

The club spent a warm evening at our August social even last week. Our member, Dave, graciously hosted. Everyone had a great time and the burgers & hot dogs, grilled by John and Steve, were outstanding. We also got to wish Laurie a happy birthday with some delightful sweet treats from nothingbundtcakes_bismarck.

The club was grateful to participate in the first ever 701 Giveback Night with the Bismarck Larks! The team provided us space to share our club’s mission and outreach with the community and bring awareness to our various activities. We were also given the chance to compete against 7 other outstanding organizations in a variety of on-field activities. After a great battle, we were fortunate enough to win the $1000 prize sponsored by BNC National Bank. Much thanks to both the Larks and BNC for your commitment to our community!
