We are so proud to be a part of the Dreamstarter family with Billy Mills. If you have never seen the video of Billy Mills’ win, GO watch it immediately. It is extremely inspiring.

Today, we celebrate SPRC’s 2026 Dreamstarter Tucker Smith ~ yayyyy!! ~ and the historic WIN for Indian Country by Billy Mills that started his beautiful work through Running Strong for American Indian Youth. 🙌🏼🙌🏼🫶🏼

On this day October 14th in 1964, Billy Mills (Oglala Lakota) won the gold medal in the 10,000-meter run at the Tokyo Olympics. He is still the only American to win a gold medal in this event.

Next week, we will be hosting two Community Councils - civic engagement and health. Attending any of our councils in the last three months makes you an active member and eligible for the Wanna Wota Food Pantry on October 21 (see below).

Community member and small business owner Ruth from Burrow and Bloom will prepare a meal to share using ingredients from the pantry. She’ll have recipes and great information, plus we’ll have other surprises!

If you missed last night’s civic engagement bingo, you missed a lot of great information about the current measures on the ballot. Two guest speakers helped explain the history behind the measures and why it is so important for people to go vote! 🗳️ Thank you to all that attended and won some great prizes too.
