MINOT: Youth in our Connected Communities program recently completed a Youth Empowerment Solutions (YES) project, building and installing reading benches in local classrooms. These youth reached out to local teachers, completed the bench builds, and delivered and installed the benches, taking responsibility for each step of the project, with the support of our Prevention Coordinator, Nancy Rolland.

It is our hope that these benches can be a space for Minot area students to read, relax, or reflect well into the future!

As we prepare for our annual We've Got You Covered clothing giveaway events, we're collecting gently used clothing, shoes, coats, and accessories for teens and young adults in our communities.

📍 Donations can be dropped off at our Youthworks locations in Bismarck and Fargo.

🏆 And this year, we're adding a little friendly competition! Right now, Fargo/Moorhead is in the lead for community donations—but can Bismarck catch up? We can't wait to find out!

FARGO/MOORHEAD: Last week our Evolve Group was able to attend a local performance of "Dear Evan Hansen". A big THANK YOU to the Minnesota State Moorhead Ticket Office for the discounted tickets. And a shout out to our very own Birdie Sinner, who was a part of the pit band! We love opportunities to be a part of community events.

FARGO/MOORHEAD: We are still looking for volunteers to help with our annual We've Got You Covered event set up! It is an opportunity to help ensure that 1,000+ youth head back to school with dignity in clothing that looks good and fits well!

On August 12th, Youthworks is in need of AT LEAST 100 volunteers at Fargo South High School to assist with set up for our annual We've Got You Covered Clothing Giveaway! This event provides new and gently used back-to-school clothing at no cost to youth in the Fargo-Moorhead area. The event assists....

MOORHEAD: A big THANK YOU to the teams that helped spruce up our Transitional Housing Community for the United Way of Cass-Clay Day of Action last week! We were able to get some much needed painting, yard work, and parking lot repairs done, and we appreciate your hard work!

And thank you to RDO Equipment Co., Cash Wise Foods, Curtis Food Recruiters, Widmer Roel, Minnesota State Moorhead, and Gate City Bank for encouraging your staff to participate. We are truly appreciative of your support!

Last week, Youthworks staff members attended the 31:8 Project's Human Trafficking Summit. Our teams were focused on learning more about this serious issue in our region, and how we can work together to prevent trafficking and continue to collaboratively provide significant support to survivors.

BISMARCK: Youthworks would like to extend the biggest THANK YOU to Dr. Stewart at Stewart, Deisz, & York Dental and to Drs. Holloevoet and Welk at Hollevoet & Welk Orthodontics for their incredible generosity in providing extensive pro bono dental and orthodontic services to a young woman we have worked with for some time. Unfortunately, this young lady experienced a severe assault which resulted in significant damage to her jaw and teeth. Upon hearing her story, Dr. Stewart agreed to see her and upon assessment, offered any services not covered by Medicaid at no charge. Dr. Stewart also recognized the need for orthodontic work, and connected with Holloevoet & Welk to help. They jumped in to provide their services, at no cost as well, and our young lady is well on her way to a fully repaired smile.

We are deeply appreciative of these professionals, who have given so generously of their time and talent, to help this young lady recover fully. This truly would not have otherwise been possible, and we cannot thank you enough.

MINOT: As the school year comes to a close, we would like to reflect upon our first year hosting the Connected Communities project in our Minot office. Connected Communities utilizes mentor-based activities and community service opportunities to engage youth in finding ways to learn new skills, access support, and contribute to their communities when they may not have otherwise had the opportunity. We have a summer group starting soon!

We appreciate the generosity of the North Dakota Community Foundation , North Dakota State Advisory Group for Juvenile Justice, and Minot Public Schools in supporting this important work in the Minot region! Thank you!
