Legacy Students and Kids, we're looking forward to seeing you tonight! We'll start you off with a small, simple dinner at 5:30 pm. Activities will follow around 6:00 pm with Shane and Kaila. (Catch our next Monthly Dinner for All on Wednesday, October 28.)

Adults are welcome to join Rita Lepp's "The Sacred Echo" class at 6:15 in Community Room 1.

Legacy loves our teachers and staff! Parent-teacher conferences at Horizon Middle School are coming up on October 19 and 20, and Legacy will be showing our support by providing supper on one of those very busy nights. Join us to help cook and/or deliver a taco bar on Monday, October 19. We will also be bringing paper plates, utensils, and napkins.

If you can help cook, please show up at the Legacy kitchen at 1:00 PM. The food will need to be taken over to Horizon and set up by 3:15 PM. We are feeding approximately 90-100 people.

Please pray for Mandan...

Heavenly Father, we offer our prayers and deepest condolences for the two Mandan teenagers who have died after a horrific car crash Friday night: Taylor Fisher and Benjamin Moch.

Be with their families, friends, schools, and communities. Grant them the peace and comfort that only You can provide. We pray for the healing of the survivors and for all the broken hearts. Thank you for the first responders, doctors, nurses, police officers, bystanders, and others who are caring for those involved.

Lord, please be with Mandan. Wrap them in Your Holy Spirit and let them feel Your unending love through this difficult time. Amen.

Did you know the United Methodist Church recognizes October as Pastor/Clergy Appreciation Month? 🤔

It's a time to recognize and thank our pastors for the many ways they serve our church families. Pastoring is about much more than Sunday mornings. It's the prayers, phone calls, visits, conversations, sermon preparation, celebrations, and countless small ways that pastors show up for people throughout the month.

This October, take a moment to say thank you. Write a note, send a message, offer a prayer, share an encouraging word, or simply say "thank you" in person. Big or small, every gesture is a meaningful way to show appreciation. 🙏🙏

Today, we join Christians around the world in celebrating World Communion Sunday. 🍞🍷 At Christ's table, we remember that we are part of something bigger than our own congregation—one body, united in Jesus Christ across cultures, languages, and communities.

We will celebrate Holy Communion during our 10:00 am service this morning. ✝️🙏

The character of Boo Radley in "To Kill a Mockingbird" is a mystery. He is a mystery to Boo's neighbors, Scout and Gem. He is a mystery to readers of the book and watchers of the movie. Who, exactly, is Boo Radley? This question becomes all the more intriguing when you think about other characters, real and fiction, whom are shrouded in mystery. Banksy. Tom Bombadil. D.B. Cooper. God. (Yes, God.)

God is such a mystery to so many people that strange and fantastical ideas about God surface all the time. Join us tomorrow morning as we look into the mysteries of Boo Radley and of God. We will also celebrate Holy Communion (on World Communion Day), as we do on the first Sunday of each month.

🥳 Legacy Kids ages infant through 5th grade may gather together for faith and fun in the kids' wing while the adults are in the 10:00 am worship service.

🎵 The Children's Choir will meet again in the Legacy Students' space right after the service for 20 minutes of rehearsal. Anyone in grades 1st-8th is welcome, even if you missed the first rehearsal.

Another way we get outside our four walls and be a Community of Impact for Christ is through our monthly "Impact Offering." 🫶

Throughout the month of October, Legacy will be collecting an offering to support the Central Dakota Forensic Nurse Examiners. This nonprofit's mission is to provide professional, compassionate, culturally competent, and timely collection of forensic evidence for patients. They respond to local emergency departments in the event a victim of sexual violence presents.

The Central Dakota Forensic Nurse Examiners' clinic covers a total of 23 counties in western and central North Dakota, with an average of 24 nurses on staff who are trained to provide forensic medical exams to victims of all ages. In 2021, they opened their first follow-up clinic in Bismarck to provide trauma-informed care to individuals.

At Legacy, we strive to get outside our four walls and be a Community of Impact for Christ. 🫶 One way we do that is through our monthly "One Thing."

This month, the Legacy church community is collecting pillows and pillowcases for Closet (701) Home, a ministry of Heavens Helpers. Closet (701) Home is built on a simple truth: when God's people generously share what He has entrusted in them, lives are changed.

The Home Store is available by referral and designed to help individuals and families who are starting over in their own home or apartment. Whether you're moving into a new place, rebuilding after a difficult situation, or simply in need of basic household items, Closet (701) Home can help.​

It's stocked entirely through generous donations from the community. Household items, kitchen essentials, bedding, small furniture, and other home necessities are provided free of charge to help create a comfortable and welcoming home environment.​​

Drop off donations throughout the month:

Beautiful day for a special delivery! ☀

For our September One Thing, we collected two shelves full of healthy snacks for Horizon Middle School. We just dropped them off this afternoon. The teachers and staff will use them to restock their panty, helping ensure no student is hungry while they're trying to learn.

CONGRATS Cambrielle!! 🎉🎉 We're so proud of you!

Cambrielle is one of 25 students selected to the North Dakota State Superintendent's Student Cabinet! In this role, she'll have the opportunity to express her views openly, constructively, and respectfully. Her participation will help improve the State Superintendent's understanding of what students need, what is going well in our schools, and what can be better.
