Anybody have any cold weather flying pics?

SEND US YOUR NEW YEAR'S DAY PHOTOS.

In the past we've put winter flying pictures in our Model Aviation D9 column to shame those who have the luxury of balmy, year-round flying.

This year, we are asking for your submissions a little earlier, so we can get them in a winter issue. Please send your images as attachments to new AVP Jim Tiller by January 2nd or 3rd at the latest. Identify your members in the photo, if they are recognizable.

Feel free to post pictures here, but in many cases the quality of Facebook images is not up to publication standards, so send a copy as well.

You've probably heard about this by now but we need to try and get the word out to our representatives to let them know what the FAA is doing to our hobby. Help to put a stop to unnecessary government overreach and policy making that only harm law-abiding citizens. If the FAA Air Traffic Control division has it's way it will kill segments of our hobby for no good reason other than to make their lives easier.

It really does only take a minute!

AMA members: We need your help. The Federal Aviation Administration is considering a new policy that would limit all recreational model aircraft operations to 400ft in controlled airspace – with no exceptions. If implemented, this policy would end many of our longstanding, safe operations. We need to get everyone on board for this one. It's just as we've been saying for years. It looks like Amazon is going to be successful in convincing congress and the FAA into taking away any airspace above 400' near to and in larger metro areas so that they can start using drones for delivery from 400-500'. They keep chipping away at our freedoms piece by piece until we have nothing left.

Congress just released a new (FAA) reauthorization bill. Just a Reminder to club members, this Saturday we are having a combined January/February meeting at A&B North. Show up from 5-5:30, we'll eat around 6:00 or whenever the pizza is ready. After the meeting we are planning on going to the dome for indoor flying around 7:30. The indoor flying is also $5.

I have placed my name in nomination for a second term as your representative on the AMA Executive Council. I first want to thank all of you for your support, encouragement and understanding as I continue through the learning process. I will do my best to represent the opinions and values of all of you in D9. This organization should always be driven by its members.

The best part of my term has been meeting all of you. I made many friends around the district and have found wonderful things going on in our clubs and among our members. Thank you all for your hospitatlity.
