The Central North Dakota Daylily Society was started in 2002 to give people who like daylilies, and want to learn more about them, an opportunity to share and learn with others about this beautiful perennial. The club holds several meetings a year as well as a daylily auction for members of the club and a sale which the public may buy from. Each summer, during peak bloom season, members tour garde
ns that have many varieties of daylilies. Club members receive a flyer with information on the upcoming meeting and place it will be held at least a week before each meeting. This modern daylily comes in an incredible array of shapes, colors, and sizes. a bloom may vary from two inches in diameter to over ten inches. Petals can be sixteen inches long. Plants may be ten inches tall or taller than six feet. a single plant may have over fifty buds or less than fifteen. Every color but blue is found in this beautiful perennial. Daylilies are round, flat, re-curved or open. Some varieties are called spiders because they have long, narrow petals. A double daylily may have a full look much like a peony. Some have extravagant ruffles, multi-colored bands or eyes and edges of one, two and even three colors. The variety in daylilies is unmatched by any other perennial in existence.
