Agriculture never stands still, and neither do the organizations that support our industry.

Since it began, the Northern Pulse Growers Association has been guided by a producer-elected Board of Directors—growers who understand firsthand the opportunities and challenges facing pulse production across Montana and North Dakota.

As our industry evolves, so do research funding, market development, policy initiatives, and industry partnerships.

That's why we believe it's important to keep our growers informed about how producer checkoff dollars are invested and how those decisions impact regional research, marketing, and education.

Transparency, accountability, and representing the interests of Northern Tier pulse growers have always been—and will continue to be—at the heart of everything we do.

🎙️ From the heart of Montana’s “Platinum Rectangle.”

Northeast Montana isn’t just farm country — it’s the heart of Montana’s pulse-growing region, with approximately 80% of the state’s pulse crops grown in this area.

Following the For the Farmers Tour stop in Culbertson, Northern Ag Network sat down with area producers to talk about the realities of the 2026 growing season across the “Platinum Rectangle.”

NPGA President McKade Mahlen was joined by new Montana Pulse Crop Committee (MPCC) member Tanner Jorgensen, along with producers Sarah Degn and Cathy Hintz, to share what they’re seeing on their farms and across the region.

We appreciate the opportunity to keep pulse growers and their voices represented in conversations happening across Montana.

From the Pacific Northwest to the Northern Plains and across America’s farm country, agriculture may look a little different from place to place, but so much of what connects us is the same.

The long days. The uncertainty. The hope for rain — or sometimes for it to stop. The pride in a good crop. And the determination to keep going when the year doesn’t quite go as planned.

On this Sunday, just a reminder that wherever you farm and whatever this season has brought your way, you’re part of a much bigger agricultural community.

Here’s to the farmers and farm families across the country doing what they do every day. 🌾❤️ We see you. We hear you. And we appreciate all that you do. 🌾❤️
