We're excited to see Seaside Toolbox Academy featured in WBOC's coverage of the Worcester County Job and Resource Fair!

We're passionate about breaking down barriers, challenging outdated stereotypes, and showing women that the skilled trades offer incredible opportunities for independence, growth, and rewarding careers.

Because the next generation of women deserves to know that no career is off-limits.

We are a month into school and obviously missing all things summer! We asked some of our campers what their favorite part of camp was, and their answers did not disappoint! 🔧

Safe to say they had a pretty good time… and do you blame them? They got to hang out with us! 😂

🚨 THE TRUTH ABOUT TRADES 🚨

❌ MYTH: A career in the trades means working by yourself all day.

✅ FACT: It takes a team to get the job done.

Tradespeople communicate with customers, learn from mentors, train apprentices, coordinate with other trades, and work together to solve problems every day.

Some tasks may be independent.

But the work is rarely accomplished alone.

Knowing your craft matters. Knowing how to communicate, collaborate, and be someone your team can count on matters too.

Amanda from United Way popped in today to check out our vending machine with a mission!

Since January, our team has purchased 75 cases of soda and energy drinks through the machine, with a portion of the proceeds going right back into our community through United Way.

You think hot water takes energy? You should see what it takes to power a plumber.

Apparently, the answer is 75 cases and counting.

We love finding simple ways to support the community we call home—even if this one is fueled by caffeine!

🚨 THE TRUTH ABOUT TRADES 🚨

❌ MYTH: Skilled trades are only for people who like working outside.

✅ FACT: The trades can take you almost anywhere.

Homes.
Hospitals.
Factories.
Schools.
Commercial buildings.
Workshops.
High-tech facilities.

Some tradespeople spend their days outdoors. Others work almost entirely indoors. And many careers offer a mix of both.

There isn't one kind of workplace—and there isn't one kind of person who belongs in the trades.

Different skills. Different environments. More career paths than you might think.

This is what learning a skilled trade can look like.

Seaside Toolbox Academy had the opportunity to put skills into action by helping provide rough-in plumbing for two Habitat for Humanity homes on Christopher Street in Salisbury.

It’s more than learning how plumbing systems work. It’s learning how the skilled trades can strengthen communities, serve our neighbors, and quite literally help build a home for a family.

Learn a trade. Build a future. Make a difference.

🚨 THE TRUTH ABOUT TRADES 🚨

❌ MYTH: Skilled trades don’t make a difference.

✅ FACT: Skilled trades make everyday life possible.

Think about what happens before most of us even leave the house in the morning.

The lights turn on.
The water runs.
The heat or air conditioning works.
The roads get us where we need to go.
The buildings around us are safe and functional.

None of that happens by accident.

Skilled tradespeople build, maintain, repair, and improve the systems our communities depend on every single day.

The work may not always make headlines.

But it makes a difference every time someone flips a switch, turns on a faucet, opens a door, or comes home to a safe place to live.

Good wishes, built right into the walls. 💙🏠

We had the opportunity to take part in Habitat for Humanity’s stud signing for their newest home in Salisbury! Before the drywall goes up, members of the community write messages, encouragement, and well wishes on the studs that will become part of the home forever.

Of course, we had to leave a little plumbing wisdom behind:
“May everything flow smoothly.” 💧

We’re grateful to be part of such a meaningful tradition and to celebrate another family getting closer to calling this house home.

❌ MYTH: You have to already be “good with your hands” to succeed in the trades.

✅ FACT: Skills are learned.

Every experienced tradesperson was once a beginner.

Training teaches the technique. Practice builds confidence. Experience develops judgment. And continued learning turns those first basic skills into a career.

You don't need to have it all figured out before you begin.

You need an opportunity to learn—and the willingness to keep showing up.

Nobody starts skilled. They become skilled.

There is no graduation day in the skilled trades.

You never reach the point where there’s nothing left to learn—and that’s a good thing.

Codes evolve. Technology advances. New products and techniques enter the industry. Continuing education helps tradespeople stay sharp, build confidence, and continue growing throughout their careers.

Learning a trade isn’t just about preparing for your first job It’s about building skills for a lifetime.
