Hey look Ma, we’re famous!

We are so greatful for ValleyOutdoors.org, U.S. Forest Service - Inyo National Forest, and all the volunteers that made this a reality! It could not have been done without each and every one of you. And a special thank you to those who donated to help cover the fuel and equipment cost for this repair and future repairs on the Inyo.

Here is the link if anyone else is also feeling generous in helping us fund these efforts as we are still a bit short.

**Dirt Ninjas Complete Major Repairs on Wheeler Crest Road with ValleyOutdoors’ Support**

— Dirt Ninjas, in partnership with ValleyOutdoors, have successfully completed a significant phase of road repairs on the popular Wheeler Crest Road. This essential work, which included an estimated 180 volunteer hours and estimated 67 hours of heavy equipment operation, has restored accessibility to the area while also ensuring the road's longevity against future weather events.

In this major effort, the team utilized five dump truck loads of material to fill washouts and stabilize the road. To further protect against erosion, the trail was hardened and water bars were installed to divert runoff, preventing future washouts. This project was accomplished with the invaluable support of ValleyOutdoors, whose volunteers and equipment were instrumental in supplementing Dirt Ninjas' efforts.

"We are incredibly grateful for the help of ValleyOutdoors and their commitment to preserving access to the Wheeler Crest area," said Shane McNulty of Dirt Ninjas. “This was a challenging project, but with their support and the backing of Inyo National Forest, we have made this trail passable once again."

Dirt Ninjas would also like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the Inyo National Forest for their continued support. Their provision of materials and authorization for this critical repair work has been crucial in ensuring that Wheeler Crest remains accessible to outdoor enthusiasts of all kinds.

While the road is now passable, some additional work remains to be done. Dirt Ninjas and ValleyOutdoors are committed to continuing their efforts to ensure Wheeler Crest remains a safe and enjoyable destination for hikers, bikers, off-roaders, campers, fishers, equestrians, and climbers.

Dirt Ninjas Collaborate with Valley Outdoors and Inyo National Forest to repair Sand Canyon Trail.

Inyo National Forest, CA – August 31, 2024 – The Dirt Ninjas OHV volunteer group, in coordination with Valley Outdoors and Inyo National Forest, is excited to announce the upcoming repair work on Sand Canyon (30E302) along the Wheeler Crest Trail. This initiative marks a significant effort to enhance and maintain this vital recreational route.

Beginning Sep 7th and Sep 8th, the Dirt Ninjas and Valley Outdoors will deploy heavy equipment to commence the initial phase of repairs. Thanks to the generous support of the Inyo National Forest, the project will benefit from three dump truck loads of rock and three dump truck loads of fill dirt, which will be essential for the groundwork.

Once the heavy equipment work is complete, the following weekend will see a call for volunteers to join in the effort on Sep 14th and Sep 15th. Participants will use hand tools to further stabilize the repaired areas, clean out water bars, and perform general maintenance on the road. This volunteer phase is crucial for ensuring the longevity and quality of the trail improvements.

We are thrilled to partner with Valley Outdoors and the Inyo National Forest. This project is a testament to the power of community and collaboration in preserving our beloved trails.

Volunteers of all skill levels are encouraged to participate and contribute to this vital community effort on Sep 14th and Sep 15. Dirt Ninjas putting in work. 🥷 Cleaning up this site as our first official project under a formal volunteer agreement with U.S. Forest Service - Inyo National Forest. Someone decided to dump their construction debris on our public lands. We responded to the call and hauled the block away to be recycled.
