Bishop CA Community Garden A community garden with garden plots for rent, a sharing garden, and demonstration gardens. Our mission is twofold.

A place to grow, to take a stroll, relax, and admire the fruits of the community's labor. The Friends of the Eastern Sierra Gardens is a non-profit organization involving Inyo-Mono Master Gardeners, United Methodist Social Services, The Bishop City Park, and individual community members. Many local organizations with an interest in horticulture have contributed to developing this quarter-acre facility, which boasts a Demonstration Garden and 34 plots for individuals. First, the north portion of the garden is devoted to exhibiting best practices, gardening diversity, and experimentation. The south portion provides individuals an opportunity to produce organically grown vegetables, herbs, and flowers in an environmentally friendly and sustainable way. As members of this garden community, all involved serve as volunteers to help utilize and beautify the Bishop City Park.

There are just a few days left in the 2026 Monarch Blitz!

From now through Sunday, help us find monarch butterflies! How many observations of monarch butterflies and milkweed plants can you share between now and the end of Sunday, Aug. 9?

Your observations provide a valuable snapshot of the monarch butterfly activity during one of their peak breeding periods. Don’t miss this opportunity to have fun outdoors with family and friends while helping provide data for monarch community science.
