**UPDATE: We got a ride for the gosling today! Thank you all so much for your support.**

WILDCARE NEEDS YOUR HELP!

We are looking for a ride for a gosling to Placerville.

We have a gosling that needs to go to Sierra Wildlife Rescue to join other goslings.
Baby geese are incredibly prone to imprinting, and raising a single gosling would prevent it from being released in the future. To prevent this, we are transferring it to Sierra Wildlife Rescue where it can join other goslings and grow up into a healthy goose.

If you or someone you know is traveling in that direction and would be able to transport him to Placeville or partway there, please contact us at the center by email ([email protected]) or phone (760-937-2450).

Back in August 2025, Wildcare received two tiny naked baby birds that had been found on the ground. These interesting little birds were Townsend's Solitaires. This photo, shown when they are several weeks old, shows their speckled juvenile plumage. Townsend's Solitaires change to a solid gray color as adults.

Townsend's Solitaires nest on the ground, so it is no surprise that their babies were on the ground. Unfortunately, the nest wasn't in a safe place, and the babies were raised at Wildcare. They were released later in the summer.

Can you spot the owl in this photo?

This photo was taken at the release of 4 young Saw Whet Owls that were rehabbed at Wildcare Eastern Sierra this summer. They were released back at the original site where they were found, and this photo helps to show just how well this environment benefits their survival.

Meet patient #25-407, and American Goshawk. This beautiful juvenile came to the Center after hitting a window Mammoth Lakes. After a several week stay while he healed from his injuries, he was released back home.

American Goshawks are the largest of the genus Accipiter. Common relatives are Cooper's hawks and Sharp-shinned hawks. These birds have long tails and are very adept at in-flight hunting, especially of birds. We occasionally see hit-window cases when they hit windows during the hunt.
