We are 10 days away from one of the most anticipated gatherings for the Black LGBTQ+ community in the South, and the energy is already building.

In 10 days, we'll be in Atlanta for four days of plenaries, workshops, cultural celebration, the Gala, and the Soulful Q***r Brunch. We'll be honoring extraordinary advocates. We'll be building collective power. And we'll be doing it all together, under the theme Collective Action for Collective Impact.

On August 20th, Southern HIV/AIDS Awareness Day, the Southern AIDS Coalition is hosting a SHAAD Reception at Atlanta City Hall from 6:00 to 9:00 PM; in partnership with the Atlanta Mayor's Office, COMPASS Initiative , Human Rights Campaign , and GLAAD.

Southern HIV/AIDS Awareness Day was founded by SAC to unite individuals, communities, and organizations around the urgent reality of HIV in the South. The South accounts for more than half of all new HIV diagnoses in the U.S., with Black communities bearing a disproportionate share of that burden. SHAAD is our annual opportunity to call attention to that reality and to recommit to the collective action it will take to change it.

This reception brings together some of the most committed partners in HIV advocacy and LGBTQ+ equity; and we want you in the room.

Come celebrate, connect, and stand with us on one of the most important days in the Southern HIV response.

We have someone to celebrate. 📣

The Southern AIDS Coalition is proud to announce Quinton Reynolds as this year's recipient of the SOS Founder's Award; presented in recognition of his remarkable leadership and unwavering dedication to the Black LGBTQ+ community.

Quinton is the Founder and Executive Director of Game Changing Men , an organization centered on erasing stigmas and barriers for Black transmasculine men through collective care, story sharing, and community-building. A Certified Family Violence Facilitator, consultant, and public educator, his work spans HIV prevention, criminal justice reform, restorative justice, and affirming care for TGNC communities across the South.

What makes Quinton's leadership extraordinary is where it was forged. His passion for organizing and advocacy began while he was incarcerated, where he started leading a support group for trans men and advocating for himself and others using the tools available to him. Since his release, he has turned that fire into a movement.

In receiving this award, Quinton joins a proud legacy of advocates who have shaped and sustained this community. Be in the room when we honor him.

The Southern AIDS Coalition is proud to announce RaeShanda Lias as this year's recipient of the SOS Fierce Advocate Award; presented in recognition of her remarkable leadership and unwavering dedication to the Black LGBTQ+ community.

RaeShanda is a force. She's an entrepreneur, Army veteran, children's book author, and social media strategist with over 3 million followers across TikTok and Instagram. She has built a platform rooted in authenticity and used it to advocate fiercely for the people who need it most. Her impact has been recognized by Out Magazine's Out100 list, an NAACP Image Award nomination, the HRC Influence Award, and The Root 100; but those of us in community already knew what the world is catching up to.
