Pediatric Heart Transplant Society The PHTS Foundation relies on donations to support its work in education and the important science of the Pediatric Heart Transplant Society.

The Pediatric Heart Transplant Society is a professional organization dedicated to advancing the science and treatment of children during listing for and following heart transplantation. The Pediatric Heart Transplant Society Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose mission is to raise and administer funds to advance the science and care of children while waiting for and after a heart transplant . We support the good works of the Pediatric Heart Transplant Society which is an international, multi-center registry established in 1993 for pediatric patients listed for heart transplantation. With now over 20 years of data collection from over 50 heart transplant centers worldwide, PHTS has made major contributions to the field which have significantly broadened the understanding of pediatric heart transplant patients and ultimately allowing for a better quality of life and improved outcomes for these patients. The Foundation ensures that the PHTS is strong and sustainable for the future and your financial support is important to improving the quality of life and outcomes for children in need of a heart transplant.

Throwback Thursday with PHTS!
This week, we’re highlighting a study examining the relationship between donor-recipient HLA-DQ mismatching and the development of antibody-mediated rejection following pediatric heart transplantation.
Researchers explored whether differences in HLA-DQ matching between donors and recipients were associated with an increased risk of rejection, helping us better understand the factors that may influence post-transplant outcomes.
Research like this continues to support our understanding of pediatric heart transplantation and the ongoing efforts to improve care for children receiving heart transplants.

Throwback Thursday
This week, we’re highlighting PHTS research exploring cardiac allograft vasculopathy (CAV), a serious complication that can develop after heart transplantation.
🔬 Does early-onset CAV lead to worse outcomes for pediatric heart transplant recipients?
Using data from the PHTS Registry, researchers examined graft survival following a CAV diagnosis to better understand long-term outcomes in pediatric heart transplant recipients.
This research highlights the importance of continued monitoring and improving our understanding of CAV after transplantation.
