The official account of the 567th House of AΦΑ. Chartered on March 20, 1978 in Homewood, AL. The Mu Psi Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.

has been a productive facet of the metropolitan Birmingham area for over 30 years. Founded in Homewood, Alabama as of March 20, 1978, the chapter represents the dream and the vision of 30 dedicated and industrious men who wanted to rekindle the spirit of their brotherhood that was initially established during their collegiate years. As a result, the thirty brothers officially synchronized their efforts across the great city of Birmingham for Alpha men unaffiliated with a local graduate chapter. The fruits of these 30 visionary men are still abundantly reaped today. Mu Psi Lambda actively participates in a number of wholesome projects such as the March of Dimes, Project Alpha, and some other worthy fund-raisers. In adhering to the fraternityâ€™s motto of â€œFirst of All Servants of All We shall Transcend All,â€ the chapter proudly celebrates its past and it meticulously prepares to address and surmount the challenges of tomorrow. Most importantly, Mu Psi Lambda nobly stands today in the very fine and rich tradition and spirit of Alpha Phi Alpha.

Yesterday, we hosted our Community Men’s Health & Wellness Expo, bringing together Brothers, community members, health professionals, and partners for a morning focused on men’s health and well-being.

With a focus on men’s mental health and prostate cancer awareness, attendees participated in free health screenings, educational presentations, community resources, and meaningful conversations about taking a proactive approach to their health.

Thank you to our presenters, panelists, partners, vendors, volunteers, Brothers, and everyone who joined us and helped make the event a success.

This past Saturday, the Brothers of the Mu Psi Lambda Chapter came together for our inaugural Back-to-School Backpack Giveaway, Voter Registration Drive & Phonathon, and what a successful day of service it was!

Together, we distributed more than 250 backpacks to students, families, and schools, made over 100 calls to community members about the importance of voting and voter registration, and helped community members get registered to vote.

This collective effort brought together our commitment to education, service, and civic engagement while demonstrating what Brotherhood in action looks like.

A special thank you to our Committee Chairs, Brothers, community partners, Woke Vote, and volunteers who gave their time and resources to make this inaugural event possible. We appreciate everyone who helped us serve, educate, and engage the Birmingham community!

On Friday, the Brothers of the Mu Psi Lambda and Omicron Lambda Chapters had the honor of meeting with our Southern Regional Vice President, Bro. Matthew S. Bradford, and members of his leadership team as we officially kicked off planning for the 2027 Southern Regional Convention.

We appreciate Bro. Bradford for sharing his vision, expectations, and excitement for what lies ahead. We look forward to working alongside the Southern Region to showcase Birmingham, strengthen our Brotherhood, and deliver an exceptional convention experience.

The work begins now, and we are excited to continuing holding high the name!

Leadership begins with preparation!

Yesterday, the Mu Psi Lambda Chapter’s Executive Board, Committee Chairs, and Co-Chairs came together for our annual Leadership Transition Meeting to prepare for the 2026–2027 fraternal year.

Together, we reviewed leadership expectations, aligned our work with our strategic objectives of Continuity, Community, and Connection, discussed priorities for the months ahead, and developed plans to position our chapter for success when we fully reconvene in September following our summer break.

Strong organizations don’t happen by chance—they are built through intentional planning, collaboration, and leadership. We look forward to building on the momentum of the past year as we continue serving our Brotherhood and our community with excellence.

We’re excited to host our Back-to-School Backpack Giveaway on Saturday, August 8, 2026, beginning at 10:00 AM at the House of Jewels in Ensley.

Students will receive backpacks filled with essential school supplies while supplies last (1 backpack per student). This event is part of our ongoing commitment to supporting youth, empowering students, and strengthening our community as they prepare for a successful school year!

Our Annual Chapter Picnic was a success! We really appreciate everyone who made it out, even in the rain, to hang out with the Brothers of Mu Psi Lambda!

A huge thanks goes out to our brothers, the hardworking committee who organized every detail, Coke for supplying all of the drinks, and to our amazing vendors for providing outstanding support and services make the event memorable.

On Thursday, the Mu Psi Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. installed its executive officers for the 2026–2027 fraternal year.
