Last week we had the pleasure of honoring a standout in the Alabama Hospice Community. Please join us in saying a huge congratulations to Rhonda Osborne, recipient of the 2026 AHPCO Legacy Award! 🎉

With more than 44 years of nursing experience, including 32 years dedicated to hospice care, Rhonda has made an extraordinary impact on hospice and palliative care across Alabama. From her leadership at Shepherd’s Cove to decades of service on the AHPCO Board and her continued work as an AHPCO Consultant, Rhonda exemplifies compassion, collaboration, and a steadfast commitment to excellence.

Her dedication to patients, providers, and the future of hospice care has left a lasting legacy across our state. AHPCO is deeply grateful for her years of service and the difference she continues to make!

A few reminders as we start Day 1:

📚Continuing Education - AHPCO offers continuing education contact hours for nurses and social workers. To receive credit, you must sign in electronically at the beginning of the day and you must sign out electronically at the end of the day and fill out the evaluation. QR codes will be provided at the beginning and the end of the day. You must be present for all sessions. No partial credit will be given.

😎Networking - Based on feedback from last year's conference, we have provided additional "free" time for networking with vendors and colleagues. We encourage you to get to know vendors and learn how they might be able to help your business.

First, we want to extend our heartfelt support to the communities affected by the hurricane over the weekend. We keep all of those affected in our prayers as they work toward recovery.

We arrived yesterday at the Embassy Suites Hotel and are gearing up for a great conference and look forward to being with you all. We have a lot of great speakers and great fun planned.

We will be sharing some information for last minute preparations today, so keep an eye out!

Be safe and we look forward to seeing you at the beach!

We are watching the weather for the AHPCO Annual Conference very closely as Hurricane Isaias approaches Alabama.

Currently, all indications are that the hurricane will make land fall on Friday as a category 2 storm with storms heading northward on Saturday. At this point we are very hopeful that the storm will not cause significant problems. We will continue to monitor the situation and update you if anything changes.

We know that any severe weather event is dangerous and our prayers are with the communities that will be affected by the storm and our hope is that the storm will dissipate and not cause loss of life or severe property damage.

Stay safe and we hope to see you all at the conference on Tuesday Evening for the reception.
