Congratulations to our team member, Tim Haskew, for being named Firefighter of the Year for the Mt. Olive Fire Protection District for 2025. Tim and K9 Quincy do double duty with Red Mountain and as volunteers with Mt. Olive. Quincy also received a special award for his service. Great seeing our amazing partner and friend at the ALETR Polar Plunge yesterday, Oak Mountain State Park Ranger Noel Watters. Thanks to him our team gets to train in one of the most beautiful and expansive parks in Alabama so we can be ready to serve. We appreciate the support! And the K9s love it, too!

Thanks to Alabama Fire College in Tuscaloosa for allowing us to train Saturday on their incredible campus. It gives our K9s and humans a chance to venture out from the woods and hit some urban/industrial search areas. Odor acts a little different on concrete and steel than it does in nature. Alabama’s first responders are blessed to have this facility in their back yard.

Had a great time at the McAdory Area Fire District Touch A Truck event! K9 Cedar and handler Stephen Burton (and Abigail), K9 Pete and handler James Patterson, and K9 Roland and handler Jon Goldfarb, enjoyed meeting the community and talking about what we do. Thanks for inviting us!

Great day in Auburn doing a demo for Scott Watkins’ wilderness class. Another awesome group of firefighters who are going the extra mile (or more in the woods) to gain new skills. Did a couple of runs with K9 Quincy and K9 Talitha so the guys could see how we work and talked about our training. And K9 Cedar searched for (and found) all the love at the end of class.

Great time at Calera National Night Out on Tuesday. K9 Cedar and K9 Pete loved meeting everyone. And we were able to hand out our new coloring pages so kids can color all the Red Mountain K9s! Thanks to Calera Police Chief Hyche for inviting us. We’re proud to partner with you and Calera PD.

Thanks to everyone who came out to see us last night, and thank you to the City of Calera Police Department for having us!

Residents from Calera and the surrounding communities had the opportunity to interact with first responders, see the equipment they use to perform their jobs and even see a live SWAT demonstration at National Night Out on Tuesday, Oct. 7.
