Freedom Trade is an non-profit organization devoted to eradicating human trafficking in India. Freedom Trade believes in and utilizes "freedom businesses".

Freedom business models are ones that provide an opportunity for someone that has been human trafficked or is subject to being trafficked, an alternative work opportunity. We believe in empowering people through education, skill development and medical assistance. Our non-profit funds a for profit export business that connects those with no voice to the first world with their outstanding products.

We believe in rehabilitation of the entire body, soul and spirit. A freedom business provides a choice and fair wage for those that previously had none. The impact of the business is crucial in the fight to end human trafficking and other forms of marginalization.

Meet Mina. 🤍

Mina plays a crucial role as our community outreach coordinator at Asha Kiran. A majority of her work is spending time with women in the community and building relationships with them. She learns their stories and ultimately determines who would be a good fit to join the business.

Mina is the perfect person to do this work. After being trafficked across a border when she was only 13 years old, she joined the fight for freedom and has been helping other women walk that same path for over 20 years.

We have known Mina for many years, and we’re honored she chose to partner with us in the work being done in rural India. Seeing her transformation over the years has been nothing short of a miracle, and it’s been a beautiful journey to witness. 🤍

We honor women like Mina who are paving the way for the next generation to walk in freedom. 🌅

A typical morning at Asha Kiran looks like this:
• the hum of sewing machines
• women growing in relationships and confidence
• hands creating something beautiful and useful
• a workplace filled with dignity

We only get to share small glimpses here, but in India the work continues day after day. Not just the work you can see, but the quiet rebuilding happening in each woman who walks through those doors. This is what lasting change looks like. 🌅

“You are safe” is one of the most powerful phrases we have. Many often wonder how the freedom business model works. Why is it beneficial to offer these women employment?

It’s imperative that we consider their lives: the trauma, lack, and insecurity they’ve experienced. By offering the security of a caring, stable work environment, we are helping provide one of their most basic needs: financial security. When we as humans have a basic sense of security, we can begin to open our hearts and minds to receive truth, healing, hope, and love.

Employment may seem simple, but it’s the first step toward a much larger vision of freedom.

As 2025 comes to a close, we’re filled with gratitude for all that was accomplished this year. 🌅
