Period poverty is a real basic-needs issue in Birmingham and across Alabama. Nearly 1 in 3 adults and 1 in 4 students struggle to afford period products locally, and Alabama still taxes menstrual products as everyday goods.  For families, already choosing between food, gas, diapers, and rent, period products can become one more essential need item pushed out of reach.
