Cultivating one community that supports LGBTQ individuals and families in our 5 county region

The mission of the LGBTQ Fund is to cultivate one community that supports le***an, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer/questioning individuals and families with the belief that all people should be treated with equal respect and dignity in a welcoming and affirming community. The focus of the fund will be to support projects and programs which satisfy one or more of the following outcomes (including but not limited to):
◾Strengthen the infrastructure of LGBTQ-led and –serving organizations;
◾Support the provision of services to the youth, individuals and families who identify as LGBTQ according to best practice standards;
◾Provide educational opportunities that highlight the need for and benefit from equitable treatment of LGBTQ individuals and families;
◾Advance networking and foster collaboration between LGBTQ related organizations and other community organizations; and
◾Support nonprofit partners working on public policy and the intersection of LGBTQ concerns and other social justice issues.

🌈 Applications are open! The LGBTQ Fund 2026 Grant Cycle is officially underway, and we want to hear from you.

The LGBTQ Fund is a charitable endowment at the Community Foundation of Greater Birmingham supporting organizations and programs across Jefferson, Shelby, St. Clair, Blount, and Walker counties.

We fund work that:
✦ Strengthens organizations led by or serving LGBTQ people;
✦ Supports services for LGBTQ youth, individuals, and families;
✦ Creates educational opportunities that elevate LGBTQ needs and stories;
✦ Builds collaboration between LGBTQ and community organizations; and
✦ Advances public policy and social justice work at the intersection of LGBTQ concerns.
