This year, we proudly honor Eric Tasker as Woodlawn's Main Street Hero.
Eric understood the power of community and devoted himself to uplifting Woodlawn every day. You could often find him whipping up delicious meals at Woodlawn Marketplace or transforming shipping containers into unique SmallBox shops, including one you can still find in the Woodlawn Courtyard.
His passion for Woodlawn was unwavering, and he was always quick to help and celebrate the success of others.
Though we lost Eric to cancer early this year, his spirit and love for Woodlawn continue to live on in the community. Planters in the district, custom designs in some of the businesses, and one of our newest spaces - the Woodlawn Courtyard - carry pieces of his legacy. But perhaps what we will always remember most is the genuine kindness and care he extended to everyone, from longtime friends to new faces.
The Eric Tasker Memorial Fund was established to continue his desire to support the growth of the historic Woodlawn business district. Contributions will help carry forward Eric’s vision for a vibrant, flourishing community where people of all walks of life come together.
