There is still time to sign the letter!

Faith in Action Alabama has launched a statewide campaign to eliminate Alabama’s three Confederate holidays: Jefferson Davis Day, Robert E. Lee Day, and Confederate Memorial Day.

The next step in the campaign is to secure 1,000 signatures on a letter to be delivered to state leadership on June 18th. The goal is simple: show how many people across Alabama are ready for change.

By signing, you are adding your name as a public signatory and making your position clear.

This effort is also connected to the People’s Agenda Campaign, which focuses on:
• Thriving public school systems
• Investment in low- and moderate-income communities
• A just state justice system

Add your name here: https://forms.gle/k1pSB67oPPatVW139
Deadline to sign: June 15
Take one minute. Then share this with others.

“The Supreme Court on Tuesday night cleared the way for Alabama to eliminate a majority-Black congressional district …”

“The justices struck down a unanimous ruling by a panel of three federal judges that had found that the map with only one majority-Black district discriminated against Black voters by diluting the power of their votes. The lower court had concluded that there was evidence the map had been drawn intentionally to discriminate, but the justices rejected that finding, writing that the lower court’s analysis had ‘departed’ from the Supreme Court’s recent Voting Rights Act decision.”

In the first major case since the justices narrowed the Voting Rights Act, the court cleared the way for Alabama to use a map preferred by Republicans that eliminates a majority-Black district.
