Bib & Tucker Sew-Op Bib & Tucker Sew-Op is a non-profit organization that teaches sewing skills through projects that give back to the community. Sewing can heal the world!

IRS-recognized 501c3 non-profit organization since August 2014. We began as a small sewing bee at Inglenook Library in Tarrant, AL. One of our founding members, Lillis Taylor, began teaching quilting classes in Woodlawn through ArtReach (a program of Alys Stephens Center's ArtPlay) and space within DISCO (Desert Island Supply Co) opened up and the rest was history. We incorporated and became an IRS-recognized 501c3 non-profit organization in December, 2014 and moved to our current space in July, 2016. We fulfill our mission during weekly sewing sessions every Tuesday from 11 to 3. We have a vision of facilitating a cottage industry of textile manufacturing in Birmingham that would provide flexible income opportunities to heads of single-parent households.

Gather around the table and get those hands moving because one of your favorites is back!
We are thrilled to welcome back an amazing Birmingham-based designer and instructor Era’Nisha Kidd (Nisha K.) Custom Crochet , for a festive 2-part sunday(s) workshop: Hand Knitting w/ Nisha K. ✨ From runway-ready gowns to cozy workshops, she is here to help you start and finish a project you are proud of.

Whether you are coming solo or making it a creative date with a mini-maker or a big-maker, this beginner-friendly class is open to anyone ages 8 and up! You'll learn everything from slip knots and cast-ons to the knit stitch, tension techniques, counting stitches, and casting off. By the end, you'll have crafted your very own cozy Christmas Stocking or a sweet Candy Cane Pillow!

📅 When: Sundays, November 8th & 15th, 2026
⏰ Time: 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM
💲 Cost: $45 per participant
👥 Class Size: Only 8 spots available!

✂️ What You Need to Bring:
-Size 7 jumbo yarn (Yarn Bee, Bernat, or Mainstay)
- 2-3 skeins of Size 7 jumbo yarn For the Christmas Stocking OR Candy Cane Pillow
-12 ounces of poly-fil

It's Time to Vote in Our Mystery Bag Challenge!

Take a look at the quilt blocks and comment with the number of your favorite entry to cast your vote. The winner will receive a $20 gift certificate to the Bib & Tucker shop! Winner announced October 31st!

We are just blown away by everyone's creativity!

Also, we're still collecting blocks!

If you picked up a mystery bag but haven't turned in your block, it's not too late! Our goal is to collect enough blocks to make a small quilt.

Sew-Op members: We also have extra fabric available at the shop if you'd like to make a block or two during your next visit.

Thank you to everyone who has participated. We can't wait to see these blocks come together!

Make cute cards! All supplies provided. There are iron-on fabric appliqués of every kind.

Instructor Pam Holmes led a fantastic hands on workshop where our garment sewists tackled the Arden Pants pattern by Helen's Closet . The day was filled with fun and creativity as everyone learned how to measure for a custom fit, sew front and back pockets, and add a comfy elastic waistband.

Just look at the amazing pants these talented makers created and those proud, smiles 😃.

There is nothing quite like the feeling of making your own clothes and sharing that creative energy with friends at the Sew-Op with us.

We’re welcoming back Era’Nisha Kidd for Crocheting w/ Nisha K ! If you’ve been wanting to learn how to crochet, want to advance, or you simply need a little creative time for yourself, this is your official sign to come on out and create!

Never picked up a crochet hook before? That’s perfectly fine! This class is beginner-friendly, open to ages 8 to adult.

Our Long-Arm Quilting Machine Needs a New Home!

We are looking to sell our Mega Quilter 18x8, which includes a 12-foot frame and Q-Bot.

We've spent a lot of time trying to get this machine working consistently, but it keeps giving us trouble. We never installed the Q-Bot, and we're unsure whether all its parts are included.

When the machine works, it works well! Unfortunately, we've reached the point where we're ready to pass it along to someone with more experience who might be able to get it running properly.

Asking $500 or best offer to help recover some of the money we've invested in it.

Sold as-is. Must go ASAP!

If you or someone you know enjoys a good project and knows their way around a long-arm machine, this might be a great opportunity. Please help us spread the word!
