🎪 We believe Birmingham has the opportunity to become a model for what truly inclusive community can look like — and it takes intentional partnership to make that vision possible.

We’re incredibly grateful to our co-host, Birmingham Park & Recreation, alongside partners like Lakeshore Foundation, Hallmark Nissan Birmingham, and District 3 Councilor Josh Vasa for helping bring the Buddy Big Top Carnival to life.

Together, we are building more than an event. We are bringing together community leaders, organizations, businesses, advocates, and families to create spaces where children with and without disabilities can participate fully, families feel welcomed and supported, and accessibility is considered from the very beginning.

Because of these partnerships, families will experience:
✨ Adaptive activities
✨ Sensory supports
✨ Inclusive play experiences
✨ Community connection
✨ Resource access

This is what becomes possible when a city intentionally chooses inclusion, accessibility, and belonging for ALL families. 💛

🎥 “It made me feel good just being a part of something bigger than myself.”

Meet Magan Battle—CEO & Owner of Battle Realty & Co., one of Birmingham’s rising leaders… and one of our Inclusion Captains at Buddy Blades.

Yes—a whole CEO showed up to volunteer.

And not just show up—she created a moment.
What started as a simple activity turned into a full Soul Train line on the rink-turned-dancefloor. Kids laughing, dancing, fully engaged—not on the sidelines.

That’s the difference.
Not just showing up—but helping create experiences where children of all abilities can truly participate.

🙌🏾 And we’re building that again for Buddy Big Top.
We need volunteers (16+) who are ready to be part of something that matters.

🎪 Be part of the Buddy Big Top Carnival experience!

On May 9, we’re bringing families together for a day of inclusive play—but it takes a community to make this possible.

🙌🏾 We’re looking for volunteers (ages 16+) to help create a space where children of all abilities can fully participate, connect, and have fun.
This is a great opportunity for:
• High school students (service hours)
• College students (especially those pursuing healthcare, education, therapy, or social services)
• Anyone passionate about inclusion and community impact

No prior experience needed—training is provided.

🎪 We’re also seeking more community exhibitors for our Mini Resource Fair.

We are specifically looking for organizations, businesses, and providers that serve the disability community—including therapy services, advocacy organizations, adaptive programs, healthcare providers, and family support resources.

Our goal is to connect families with resources they may not know exist, helping them access support beyond this event.

💡 Whether you’re volunteering your time or sharing your resources, you’re helping create a space where families feel seen, supported, and included.

📅 May 9 | 12–4 PM

Today, we had the opportunity to share something bigger than an event—we shared a vision.

Alongside City Councilor of District 3, Josh Vasa, on WBRC Fox 6 News, we talked about what it looks like when a city intentionally creates space for children with and without disabilities to belong together.

This is what partnership looks like.
This is what community can look like.

On May 9, we’re bringing that vision to life at the Buddy Big Top Carnival—a fully inclusive play experience designed so that access is not an afterthought, but the foundation.

🎪 300+ community members
🎡 Adaptive games + activities
🎧 Sensory-considerate spaces
🙋🏾‍♀️ Trained volunteers supporting every child

And it only works if the community shows up.

➡️ Families — register to attend
➡️ Volunteers — be part of what makes this possible

This isn’t just about one day.
It’s about shifting what inclusion looks like in our city—permanently.

Special thank you to Josh Vasa and the City of Birmingham Department of Parks & Recreation for partnering with us to bring this vision to life. Your support helps create spaces where every child is considered from the start.

We’re proud to see one of our own leading this conversation! Mrs. Willie has been one of our biggest supporters since the inception of the Wildflower Alliance! If you remember she joined us for TWA Talks to talk IEPs!

Tonight at 10:30 PM on WBRC, Willie Glass—parent advocate, owner of Family Resolution Services, and Wildflower Alliance Parent Council member—joins the Law Call with Melanie Posey to share her knowledge on IEPs and parental rights.

📞 We need our community to show up. CALL IN with your questions and be part of the conversation. It's IEP season and everybody, including myself are in the IEP conversations. Make sure you go into these conversations informed!!

This is how we make sure families are heard.

Please SHARE and help me reach families who need information about Special Education and IEPs!!!

When Stephanie shows up, she’s not showing up as a volunteer.
She’s showing up as someone who knows what these events mean to our families.

She has watched families walk into spaces that weren’t built for them — and leave before the day is done.

Buddy Big Top is being built differently.
Every activity. Every zone. Every detail.
Designed for children of all abilities — not added on later.

But none of it happens without people who believe it should exist.

That’s what the Create the Experience Campaign is about.
It’s not just funding an event.
It’s funding the proof that inclusive spaces are possible.
It’s funding the families who deserve to stay the whole day.
It’s funding the next one.

We’re raising $25,000.
Stephanie is making sure we surpass our goal.

Be another reason.

🎪 Buddy Big Top Carnival is here — our next Inclusive Playdate!

Step right up to a carnival experience intentionally designed so every child can participate — no exceptions, no asterisks.

Whether your child is joining the fun for the first time, uses adaptive equipment, prefers a quieter space, or just wants a joy-filled day outside — Buddy Big Top was built for them. Every detail has been thoughtfully designed with your child in mind.

📅 Saturday, May 9th | 12:00 PM – 4:00 PM
📍 Braelynn’s Way at Bessie Estell Park
🎢 FREE Entry

✨ What’s waiting at the carnival:

🎡 Inclusive carnival activities for all abilities
🍿 Food & drinks
📚 Parent Resource Fair
🤝 Buddy system matches that spark real friendship and connection across all abilities
♿ Adaptive accommodations — all abilities and all equipment welcome

This experience is designed for children with and without disabilities to come together — because inclusion isn’t just about access, it’s about connection. Every child plays a role in creating the kind of community we want to see.

For families who are used to wondering “Will this work for my child?” — this is a space where the answer is already yes.

We’re also looking for volunteers to help bring this experience to life — from supporting buddy groups to assisting with activities and event flow. If you’re interested in being part of what makes this day possible, we’d love to have you involved.

Visit thewildfloweralliance.org to learn more. We can’t wait to see you May 9th! 🎢

When Henry speaks about this work, he’s not speaking from theory — he’s speaking as a father, a husband, and a co-founder.

He has seen what happens when caregivers finally get to breathe. When couples reconnect. When families experience inclusion that isn’t an afterthought — but the foundation.

We’ve committed to raising $20,000 in 30 days through our Create the Experience Campaign to ensure respite and inclusive experiences continue without interruption.

This isn’t just support.
It’s sustainability.
It’s structure.
It’s accountability.

If you believe families raising children with disabilities deserve spaces that are designed for them — not added on later — stand with us.

Two hours.

That’s how far this family drove — just for the chance to be in a space intentionally designed for their children.

Because when you’re raising kids of all abilities, you quickly realize that not every “open to all” space truly includes your child.

Buddy Blades was different.

The environment worked.
The layout worked.
The support worked.

Barriers weren’t managed.
They were removed.

What happened that night wasn’t just skating. It was what becomes possible when accessibility is the foundation — not an afterthought.

Too often, families encounter spaces that quietly exclude. Surfaces that limit participation. Transitions that aren’t considered. Events that appear inclusive but functionally aren’t.

At Buddy Blades, the message was clear: You belong here.

And when a child experiences that kind of belonging, something shifts — in confidence, in independence, and in how a family walks into a room.

This is why The Wildflower Alliance exists.

Not simply to host events.
But to dismantle barriers.
To strengthen social capital.
To create experiences where participation is real and visible.

Because access changes everything.
