At Make-A-Wish Alabama, we believe that a child’s emotional well-being is integral in their physical fight against a critical illness.

Research shows that wishes have a positive impact on the emotional well-being of wish kids, their families and those involved in a wish. With the hope of a wish, children with critical illnesses discover renewed optimism for brighter days ahead. After his wish, Austin felt more alive after being tired, depressed and scared.

WISH GRANTED! 🏰 ✨ 💙

Meet Elijah! Diagnosed with a genetic disorder in utero, he spent the first seven months of his life in hospice care. Despite what doctors expected for his life, Elijah is now eight, in third grade and thriving.

When Make-A-Wish Alabama stepped in, his mother shared that planning Elijah’s wish gave his family “a shared focus on joy rather than illness.” He sensed the love surrounding his experience, enjoying the flights, park rides, cotton candy and the different casts.

“The wish provided emotional fuel that we continue to draw from, especially during challenging moments… This wish will forever hold a special place in our hearts.”

Make-A-Wish Alabama is honored to continue granting life-changing wishes like Elijah’s that bring transformative strength and moments of normalcy to families in need! 💙

This International Nurses Day, we celebrate the nurses and medical providers who bring hope,
strength and comfort to children with critical illnesses like Roslyn. 💙🩺✨

During her cancer treatment, Roslyn developed a close bond with her hospital care team,
inspiring her heartfelt wish to bake them cakes. 🎂 “Most of the time, she would look forward to
going [to the hospital],” said her dad, Eric. “She’d say, ‘I get to see my nurses!’” 🥹

With the help of WHNT News 19, the “Wishes Can’t Wait” telethon raised $90,284!

As we wrap up World Wish Month, we’re thankful for the incredible WishMakers who called ready to give, grant wishes and change lives. Thank you to WHNT News 19 and Lauren Layton, our incredible wish families who shared their stories and the generous volunteers who helped us surpass our goal of $85,000! We’d also like to thank the event’s generous sponsors: Country Financial, Window World and Deep South Construction. We couldn’t have done without each of you!

Our community continues to prove that, when wishes are waiting, they’ll step in to help make them come true. We couldn’t be more excited to continue granting life-changing wishes for children in our state with critical illnesses!
