Kuumba Community Art Always doing as much as we can in such a way that we leave our community more beautiful and beneficial than we inherited it!

Kuumba Community Art is founded on the principle of kuumba (creativity): to do as much as we can in the way that we can in order to leave our community more beautiful and beneficial than we inherited it. Our current program, Teen Design Academy, provides early education and job training in graphic design, advertising and related fields in an effort to diversify the local and national design commun

ities. Students undergo an intensive six-month study with seasoned industry professionals before graduating to participate in a teen-led design agency serving area business and community organizations. The Teen Design Academy curriculum is built upon a mix of the Adobe Creative Curriculum, basic design history and principles and, most importantly, community awareness and social responsibility.
