For nearly a quarter-century, the so-called ‘roadless rule’ has safeguarded hundreds of thousands of acres of the most natural and least developed public lands in the South. These remarkable places are home to well-known recreation destinations, boast stunning old-growth forests, provide habitat to wildlife, safeguard clean water, and support local economies that depend on our public lands.

But now, the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the U.S. Forest Service are proposing to rescind the roadless rule, putting these iconic places on the chopping block.
