Lucy & Ruby's Brainy Day

Lucy & Ruby's Brainy Day Lucy & Ruby's Brainy Day is an annual fundraiser held each May to benefit brain cancer research and patient support services.

Lucy, age 9, and Ruby, age 7, lost their dad, Scott Harris in November 2013 to glioblastoma brain cancer. They never got a chance to meet their grandfather Roland Fields who passed away in 1994, also from brain cancer. They held a lemonade and cookie stand in May 2013 to raise money for "daddy's hospital," UAB, through Wheeling for Hope. Their lemonade stand turned into more of an event with frien

ds and family staying for 30 minutes or more to socialize and play. Just from promoting their lemonade stand on Facebook in 2013, they raised $3,000 for Wheeling for Hope which benefits brain cancer research and patient support services at UAB and Children's Hospital of Alabama. Lucy & Ruby have expanded their lemonade stand concept to a fun event which will be held each May as a way to keep their dad's memory alive and provide hope to others currently living with brain tumors. The fundraiser goal is to make an impact in the fight against brain cancer by:
- Increasing awareness
- Raising funds for prevention and treatment research to increase the quality and quantity of life for future brain cancer patients
- Raising funds for patient support services
- Ultimately finding a cure
