Epilepsy Foundation Alabama

Epilepsy Foundation Alabama Our vision is so no one faces epilepsy alone.

Epilepsy Foundation Alabama is a statewide nonprofit leading the way to improve the lives of people affected by epilepsy through education, advocacy, research, and connection. Epilepsy affects 3 million Americans and 50 million people worldwide, but the lives of family members, friends and co-workers are also deeply affected. The goal of the Epilepsy Foundation of Alabama is to help you understand

more about the neurological disorder and to share with you the new treatments available while providing programs and services to the public. We offer services for families, schools, employers and public health workers that engage and educate individuals in order to raise awareness and reduce the stigmas and myths associated with seizures and epilepsy.

We are cheering on Epilepsy Awareness Ambassador, Elaina Burt, Miss Jefferson County 2026, as she competes this week for the title of Miss Alabama 2026! πŸ‘‘πŸ’œ

For the past four years, Elaina has partnered with the Epilepsy Foundation Alabama through education and awareness initiatives, including her annual Wings of Hope Gala, Seizure First Aid trainings, and more. Her passion for advocacy continues to make a lasting impact across Alabama and helps ensure no one faces epilepsy alone.

β€œI am so excited for the opportunity to compete for Miss Alabama. Over the past four years, this organization has created a platform for me to use my voice in ways I never imagined, opening doors for meaningful partnerships and collaborations with the Epilepsy Foundation of Alabama through Charlie’s Chance. It has taught me that lasting impact comes from showing up consistently, building relationships, and serving something bigger than yourself. I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to continue advocating for the epilepsy community on the Miss Alabama stage.” - Elaina

Elaina, thank you for using your voice to raise awareness and advocate for the epilepsy community. We are proud to support you and can’t wait to cheer you on this week! πŸ’œ

Interested in learning more about our Erin's Embrace program? Check out this blog post by Empatica to learn more about the device and program itself.

To contact our office about obtaining a device check out https://epilepsyalabama.com/programs/erins-embrace/

At Empatica, our goal is to make seizure monitoring technology accessible to as many people living with epilepsy as possible. While broader support and reimbursement from governments and healthcare systems are still needed, partnerships continue to play an important role in supporting families.

That’s why partnerships like the Epilepsy Foundation of America ’s Erin’s Embrace Program are so important. Created in memory of Erin Hurt, the program helps eligible patients cover the cost of EpiMonitor, Empatica’s FDA-cleared seizure monitoring device.

πŸ’œ Thank you to the Epilepsy Foundation Alabama, Epilepsy Foundation Nebraska, Epilepsy Foundation Mississippi and New Jersey Epilepsy Foundation for your collaboration and continued commitment to supporting families affected by epilepsy.
