Why do some choices seem to have no consequences?

In today’s blog, Richard E. Simmons III explores a timeless principle found in Galatians 6:7:

“Whatever a man sows, this he shall also reap.”

One reason people ignore this principle is because consequences are often delayed. Good deeds may go unnoticed for a season, and wrong actions may seem to carry no cost at all.

But wisdom understands that every decision, every habit, and every choice is planting seeds for a future harvest.

“Because God does not punish instantly, people feel it is safe to do wrong.” — Ecclesiastes 8:11

In today’s episode of the Reliable Truth Podcast, Richard E. Simmons III continues this powerful series

Galatians 6:7:“Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, this he will also reap.”

Our lives are shaped by the ideas we believe, and false ideas can quietly corrupt the way we live, think, and lead.

What seeds are we planting today?
And what kind of harvest will they produce tomorrow?

What is shaping the next generation?

In today’s blog, Richard E. Simmons III reflects on the growing influence of technology, social media, and entertainment on children — and the responsibility parents have to intentionally shape character in a distracted world.

“Many children now spend more time interacting with screens than engaging in face-to-face conversations, reading books, or participating in family activities.”

What do our children believe we value most for their lives?
Success? Achievement? Status?
Or goodness, integrity, and character?

In a culture competing constantly for attention, this is an important conversation for every parent.

In honor of Memorial Day, we are re-airing this powerful episode of the Reliable Truth Podcast.

Richard’s guest is WWII Marine survivor Edgar Harrell, the last surviving Marine of the USS Indianapolis at the time of this interview.

After delivering uranium for the atomic bomb later dropped on Hiroshima, the USS Indianapolis was struck by Japanese torpedoes and sank in the Pacific Ocean.

Ed Harrell shares the incredible true story of surviving dehydration, exposure, shark attacks, and days stranded at sea — a testimony of courage, endurance, and faith in God’s providence.

This unforgettable conversation is a powerful reminder of sacrifice, bravery, and the cost of freedom.

What if the very things with the greatest power for good… also carry the greatest potential for harm?

In today’s blog, Richard E. Simmons III explores “The Double Power Principle” — the idea that the more powerful something is for good, the more powerful it can also become for evil.

Money. Power. Technology. Even good things can become destructive without wisdom.

“The wise can discern that which is good and healthy, from that which is harmful and destructive.”

True wisdom isn’t just knowledge — it’s learning how to live well.

Who or what gets your time?

Coach Bear Bryant was once asked if there was anything he would’ve done differently after all his success.

His answer:
“Yeah, I missed my family.”

Not because he was busy while they were there —
but because he missed those moments completely.

In today’s podcast, Richard E. Simmons III shares a powerful message about fatherhood, relationships, honesty, and what truly lasts through generations.

“Relationships can only be developed through shared history, and that takes time.”

What if the biggest problem in life… is following the wrong map?

In Part II of *The Significance of Ideas*, Richard E. Simmons III explores how the ideas we believe shape the way we live, and why false ideas can quietly lead us in the wrong direction.

“You might work harder, think more positively, and move faster… but with the wrong map, you’ll still be lost.”

This powerful piece challenges us to ask:
Are our beliefs rooted in truth?

The Significance of Ideas – Part 1

Ideas shape the way we see the world — and ultimately, the way we live.

In today’s blog, Richard shares a powerful story from theologian R.C. Sproul about a former philosophy professor from Germany whose life was devastated under Hitler’s regime simply because of the ideas he believed and taught.

It’s a sobering reminder that ideas are never neutral. They influence culture, shape character, and guide the direction of our lives.

Jesus spoke about this when He said:

> “The eye is the lamp of the body…”

In other words, the lens through which we view reality matters deeply. When our understanding is rooted in truth, our lives are filled with light. But false ideas can quietly lead us into confusion and darkness.

This blog challenges us to examine the beliefs shaping our lives — and to pursue wisdom grounded in truth.

Are we aware of the ideas shaping our lives?

Can ideas actually be dangerous?

Whether we realize it or not, every one of us lives according to a certain set of beliefs and assumptions about life, truth, purpose, and meaning.

In today’s *Reliable Truth* episode, we reflect on the importance of examining the ideas we allow into our minds and hearts — because what shapes our thinking ultimately shapes our lives.

Jesus said in Luke 11:

> “Your eye is the lamp of your body; when your eye is clear, your whole body also is full of light…”

The ideas we embrace can either bring light and clarity — or lead us into confusion and darkness.

This episode challenges us to think carefully about the beliefs guiding our lives and whether they are leading us toward truth.

Who Are You Becoming?

It’s easy to focus on what we’re experiencing in life — our circumstances, our success, our struggles.

But what if the more important question is:
Who are you becoming?

In today’s blog, Richard reflects on the powerful idea of the Book of Life — and what it means to truly belong to God.

He shares his own story of surrendering his life to Christ, expecting one thing… and discovering something completely different: purpose, meaning, peace, and joy.

And with that comes a deeper truth:

God is less concerned with what is happening to us — and more concerned with who we are becoming.

As one memorable line puts it:
“You make me want to be a better person.”

That’s exactly what a relationship with Christ does — it transforms us from the inside out.
