⚫ 850 students attended Oral Arguments in March, watching Alabama's appellate courts in action
⚫ $46,000 in grants to local nonprofits providing legal services to individuals and families in need
⚫ 24 new Fellows and 7 new Life Fellows honored for their excellence and service, strengthening the endowment that funds our grants
⚫ Resolve2Solve returns in spring 2027

The Birmingham Bar Foundation is proud to support HICA - Hispanic and Immigrant Center of Alabama and its Citizenship and Immigration Program.

Our Fellows Endowment program providing grant support for ¡HICA! to provide bilingual, low- to no-cost civil legal services to immigrant families across Alabama.

Over the 2026 grant period, their team:

✅ Assisted 659 individuals
✅ Conducted 328 immigration case screenings
✅ Filed 68 applications for humanitarian relief for victims of crime
✅ Filed 72 DACA renewals and 42 naturalization applications, with 20 new citizens approved so far
✅ Reached residents in 40 Alabama counties
✅ Helped 31 participants prepare for citizenship through an ESL/Naturalization class

¡HICA! also held community sessions to help families spot and avoid fraudulent "notario" services, protecting people from scams that can derail their cases.

This is what access to justice looks like. Thank you to our Fellows for making this work possible!
